Interesting. I thought the booster would go inline between the speedo and receiver, then you would use the speedo switch like the "good old days." I'll have to fiddle with it tonight while I'm at the track.

You need to add your own receiver plug and/or switch.

PM me if your interested, if not, no worries.

That sucks that you cant make it out.

Haha, after all that crying he did........he built a 1cell car and is gonna try it tonight. You believe that?? Thats ok, If I cant get the 17.5 dialed in the 13.5 is in my pit bag.

Ok, I will take my time and wire the booster in like that. One last night of charging two packs for one car.

Thats how I run mine... just off the ESC wire before the rx. it works great like that. I notice no drop off or loss of punch/speed at the end of 10+ minutes with a 13.5. Its also easier and lighter as you dont need the extra wire and an extra switch. And theres no chance of turning the wrong switch on.

What speedo are you running ? With the LRP Sphere, you need to run it off of the battery, then into the speedo (like it was a receiver pack), otherwise the speed control senses low voltage and cuts motors signals, thus the dumping feeling.

Are people still waiting on the Novak booster product in order to run without the additional receiver/servo pack? Have alternative voltage booster products from other companies just not been good enough?

Im running the Tekin RS pro and a 17.5 along with SMC's lipo....The tekin doesn't like the single cell battery it gives me an error code saying wrong motor type. The tekin doesn't seam to like the lower voltage if i put a Rx pack
in the error goes away.

My question is what size Rx pack have you guys been running to make an 8 min race?

Has anyone had any luck getting a 17.5 turn motor to work with the smc lipo's? Or do i have to go to a 13.5.

When i was testing with a crap Rx pack it didn't seam to have any punch, Im hoping i will gain that with a
new Rx pack when i know what size rx to order.

I've run a little bit of 17.5 and it works fine. It's actually not that far off from 17.5 4 cell if you run the car light (like 720 grams).

I know that the guys running receiver packs are running 200 mAh LiPo's or 150 mAh NiMh cells.

I would bet that some of the speedo's that "work" without a receiver pack really aren't getting full power.

You'll probably never get even close to the same punch as 17.5 4 cell with single cell LiPo.

Most guys at my local track are running single cell, myself included. We have played with different motors(17.5 13.5 10.5) all seem to fine with the single cell.

My question is what size Rx pack have you guys been running to make an 8 min race?
The guys running a RX pack seem to use 80-90mah for 8 minutes.

Has anyone had any luck getting a 17.5 turn motor to work with the smc lipo's? Or do i have to go to a 13.5.
17.5 seems to be fine. 78/50ish is what most are running.

When i was testing with a crap Rx pack it didn't seam to have any punch, Im hoping i will gain that with a
new Rx pack when i know what size rx to order.

Make sure you leave the switch "off" on the speed control or the BEC will limit power and give you that dumping feeling...........BB

I have the el-cheapo $4.00 HK voltage booster and it works fine with my setup. I would have been running a Novak booster, but they took too long to release. I have no doubts the novak booster is "better", but I could buy 5 or 6 of the small HK ones fo the same price.

I do.. I'm using a 2cell 350mah lipo and a 6 v regulator on both of my pan cars . I like the constant voltage so my servo doesnt slow down. I also disconnect the red wire from the speedo to the reciever and I dont have to worry about someone turning on or off the wrong switch.
