I had put away my WGT car since last September because I was sick of the round cells. Well, last night I finally bought the SMC 3.7v pack and ran it in my WGT. The speed was good, but there were no other WGT cars at the track last night so I didn't have a peer to compare with. However, the WGT was much faster than my 17.5/rubber tire touring car down the 80' straight away. My motor was only coming off at 90 degrees so I've got some more room to gear up if need be. Punch out of the corners wasn't bad either....of course I was geared a little low. I was also running at 1086 grams...a little under minimum wieght. I didn't run a booster or RX pack. I wanted to see how well the car worked without 6v to the servo. As suspected, the servo felt sluggish and would not center coming out of a hard turn. Sometimes the servo even felt "locked" coming out of a turn and I would take a sharp left or right into a board. I think a booster will be all I need to get the servo issue worked out....I'll be buying Novak's booster as soon as possible!! All in all, I'm very happy with this pack and I truly believe we might be seeing the end of Nickel based cells....at least at my local tracks!!

By the way, here is my WGT setup....please bare in mind I'm a WGT rookie and I only race at the club level:

Speed Merchant Speed Spec II
BSR Double Pink Front
BSR Pink Rear
Novak Havoc ESC
Novak SS10.5 motor
Multiplex Polo Digi 4 servo (basically a digital Hitec HS-85MG)
HPI Mustang GTR body (I know it's a "flying brick" but it just looks cool)
...and of course a SMC 3.7v 4000 battery!!

Wrapping power wires around your antenna isn't a good idea.

I actually ran the antenna up over the wires, and I've never had a problem with them being close before... not me personally at least

Well, they can't complain about ni-mh cells going bad with this pack, so there has to be something...

So, I ran my 12R5 with a Novak 7.5 last night in club racing. Very fast. More power than I need for our track. I was pulling wheelies at times, though mostly I was feathering the throttle to keep it under control. The car is light, and there is a ton of power on tap, but the truth is I'm not sure it's really faster overall than 4 cell super stock. It wants to get airborne at times. My car is weighing in at 740g with a 160mah rx pack. Between runs I was putting about 2300 mah back in. The motor was coming off lukewarm at 8 minutes.

To say the least, there is ample opportunity for running a ballistic missile lipo version of 1/12th scale. I'm not convinced this is a "slow-the-class-down" proposition, even at 4000 mah capacity.

On a different note, I put a lipo in my T-Fource with a 19t. Balanced and butter overall, though the 19t definitely draws the amps. Geared at 65mm rollout it runs like a fast stock motor. Handling is superb, maybe better than my 12R5, though I want to try a brushless rig in it when I get a chance. This cell form factor is absolutely t-bar friendly, there is no need at all to wait for saddle packs. Picture attached.
