As long as you have a decent speedo and you don't drive like Jo Jo the circuis clown a 4.5 Novak will make time pretty easy. It's not quite as fast as 4 cell but it's pretty quick.

Almost forgot. You will feel the voltage curve of the pack during the run in mod but it won't fall off much. Just feels different.
I have a 4.5 for my 12R5 - how much mah are going back in to the pack after the run? I am interested to see how close we will be getting to dumping the lipo as we cant run the esc cutoff to protect it.

That won't have enough power to work but they do have a new booster that will be available soon that will. It's on Novak's website.

If you drive hard, it will dump. If it dumps you'll know it. Just stop and charge it back up. You're only going to really hurt the pack if you keep trying to drive it around once the pack dumps.

From what I understand ROAR will freeze the current case size and 5700 will not be possible as that was with the original case that was to high. For those looking for higher capacity and C rate for mod it will be possible for us to make such a pack as there is room left inside the current case.

As far as barrel connectors go it will not happen as there are to many disadvantages to this style connection. Barrels can come apart of the circuit board, Extra solder points due to the circuit board and wear and tear of the of the barrel can increase resistance. Out board connectors can be changed plus can't be plugged backwards.

As soon as you notice your car slowing down stop right away and the pack will be fine. With the Novak Booster circuit it will have a built in cutoff.

Default 10.5

I ran a 10.5 on the weekend, 12 minutes till it dumped, speed didnt fall off till 11 min+. ran no added weight, 715g, 730mah lipo rec pack (overkill, but I had it from a plane). If it feels like its dumping it could also be the rec pack falling off.
I'll throw my opinion out there on weights and capacity just to add to the unofficial vote. Keep it light, 700 is achievable easily using common equipment, and lighter is less breakage and tire wear. Limit the lipo case size, there is no way to police capacity once there is more than one supplier.

A big thanks to SMC for taking a risk with this pack, I'm finishing a few races with old round cells, then goodbye to nimh.

Can we forget the barrel connectors. He has said at least 5 times that it ain't going to happen. He just gave his reason for not doing it. Learn to love the Deans or buy a different battery.

Packs that are taken apart and altered will not be ROAR legal and it voids the limited warranty we have on our packs.

I have bullet connectors on my pack and I didn't have to hack it all up. It's not rocket science to solder a couple of connectors on and shrink over them.

If I were running single cell all the time I would hardwire the pack directly to the speedo and have it done with. There's really no need for the connectors if your speedo has solder tabs.
