Default 10.5

I ran my single cell 10.5 against 13.5 4 cells Sunday. The car worked great can't complain at all about handling with the lighter car (700 grams). I did however slow down dramatically the last minute of the race, 8.5's to over 9 sec laps. I ran a 4 cell receiver pack with a new Orion speed control. The motor only got up to 105 degrees so I am not sure if I was under geared or over geared. Speed was very comparable to 13.5 I just didn't like the feeling that I was dumping. What motor temps are the 13.5's reaching at the end of a run? I didn't see how many seconds were left but I can't imagine the car would go very fast at 3v anyway. Seems like the batteries need to be bigger than 4000 to run strong for 8 minutes.

I watched a 13.5 single cell fly for 8 mins rolling 3.2 and only 115 degrees. all day. The car never slowed down.

I hear ya. I ran 13.5 single cell and got my fastest lap 3/4 of the way through. Car felt strong all eight minutes and only needed about 1300 mah charge after.

Well a 10.5 draws more than the 13.5's so is that why it feels like I am dumping or is it something else? I am not arguing that 13.5's don't go 8 minutes strong I don't plan on running that class so I will be testing with hotter motors. I don't believe I have seen anyone post any results other than a 13.5 so I am just asking if anyone has run anything else. I don't want to ever buy a NiMh again so I am just trying to get this figured out.

I will test with mod on Wednesday to see if they go 8 minutes.

I ran a 4.5 a couple weeks ago and it was pretty good. If whatever set-up you're running is going flat it's either geared wrong or the speedo is limiting power. If you run a receiver pack (or booster) and leave the speedo switch off it shouldn't power limit with the low pack voltage.

As long as you have a decent speedo and you don't drive like Jo Jo the circuis clown a 4.5 Novak will make time pretty easy. It's not quite as fast as 4 cell but it's pretty quick.

Almost forgot. You will feel the voltage curve of the pack during the run in mod but it won't fall off much. Just feels different.

I am putting back about 2400 mah after a run. Thats pinned the whole time, still havnt figured out how to make it drive at 1/4 throttle like the round cells.

Shouldnt have any problem with a 10.5. Maybe just pedal it the first min? Rolling the throttle on/off will save a bunch of mah's, and cut your lap times too.

I would suggest to wait till someone decides to make the 5700 pack for us they said they were going to make before the 1c 4000 came out. hopefully it will have barrel connectors out of the top like we want it.

If I recall from ancient history class, wasn't Saint Amant the patron saint of bullet connectors? Or was he the patron saint of neat wiring?

Really ? Wow someone remembers me showing my special conectors to Gene Hustig back in OMG '86. I didn't know anyone else knew about that. I do try to make my wires neat, but I know that wasn't my idea.
Ty 4 the props Jack!

This past weekend I ran my Worlds Gt with a 13.5 novak motor and ESC.I also had a reciever pack. After going up on the pinon from where I had it with my 4 cells - I needed more pinion. After the main we teched the motor and it was 105. So We came up with going up to a 45 pinion ( 88 spur).I ran a 38( qualifying) and 40 (in the main). Speed wise I was slower than the rest of the field- they were using 4 cells. Unfortunately it will be guess again- the gear ratio, as we will be racing at KRaceway here in Florida (1/8) gas track next month.
