Here's another, with a picture. I'm at 800g. Without lead it came to 735g with no effort to save weight, other than to avoid clutter and balance it (Actually, I sort of gazed wistfully at my brushed stock T-Fource as I was doing this. So boiled down, by comparison. If I keep saying this is progress will it make it true?)

That's a 13.5 motor. I race on Wednesday and will post some results.

Hobby King has boosters back in stock. I have one of these and it's been working fine. I did rewire it to have a switch on the input side and I redid the wire length on the output. Been working like a champ and cheap enough to get a spare or two.

My Tekin is rather unhappy without the booster also. You'll need some kind of booster or receiver pack to have a reliable personal transponder signal anyway. I would also suspect that some of the systems that "work" are limiting the power some due to radio priority circuits.

Any particular reason for weighting up to 800?

Just trying to match the 794g ROAR minimum. My home scale is only +/- 5g. So I'm right on it. I just overshot by a little, less than one square of lead. I'll tweak at the track with the scale there.

There aren't going to be rules for single cell until there are more battery companies with packs and we sort out the electronics and weights.

I think ROAR is looking at setting a battery size limit and approving the SMC single cell pack but that doesn't make a class.

We're still probably a year off before there are any rules for a single cell class.

Those who are pursuing the 1S lipo are trying to incorporate it into the current 1/12 scale rules, not make a new class.

Single cell can be mixed at club races for now but things will change as we figure out the cars. What is "equivalent" or "close" now will not be the same tomorrow.

17.5 has no "equivalent" to 4 cell and it shouldn't. Personally, I think that this is the class that most club level racers should be in along with any new racers. Slower stock speeds will bring back the oldschool snake of cars running around the track. If you missed stock racing in the midwest back when the cars were slow you missed a lot.

13.5 might be similar to 17.5 4 cell for now but I'll bet money that this will change as we figure out the whole LiPo deal. Mixing the two at a club level is fine for now but it will need to be split for big races.

Mod is what it is. This is the only class that should be able to mix LiPo and NiMh. Set a weight for LiPo and go race. We've had split weights before in sedan for 5 cell and 6 cell and that should work in 12th also.

Mix single cell LiPo and 4 cell NiMh at a big race and you'll see this ----> and this ---->

If you're going to be running with 4 cell 17.5 cars, I think 800 will put you at a disadvantage. I think the guys running sub 700 are at an advantage over 4 cell 17.5's. I don't know where the 3.7/13.5 weight needs to be but I'm suspecting it's going to prove to be somewhere in the 720 to 740 range to keep on par with 17.5 4 cell for a mixed class. I don't know what your track is doing about rules, we haven't yet determined exactly where the 3.7/13.5 cars need to be to keep the mix fair, but the more I see, the more I suspect it's going to fall somewhere in the 720 - 740 area.

Okay, we now have two contenders for "reality check of the year". Good one Jim.

For anyone interested, here's the other contender RIGHT HERE

12th scale is a true "worldwide" class. It's not some American abortion like VTA and "world GT". I absolutely HATE the wold GT rules by the way...I think it ruined a promising class with ugly bodies that don't work. Whoever came up with the GT body idea needs a good kick in the ol jumblies. Protoforms Mulsanne body should have been the new spec for GT10 bodies...

It's important to take the time and set rules that make sense for every one involved. Rushing out a new set of rules isn't fair to the rest of the world. Cramming new rules down the 12th racer's throats will just make them resist more.

Needs to be a new class with new rules that have been worked out over time. Not some 15 minute set down between a handful of people that may or may not screw the class up.

I think the concern is diluting the class too much. We've got maybe five or six guys running the 3.7/13.5 here, that would be a pretty weak class. More are going to be making the switch, but some won't until 3.7/13.5 is legal everywhere. Keeping the class mixed pretty much ensures that we'll have 1/12 scale every week. Not everyone wants to switch yet. We have a few guys with VTA and WGT cars, but I've yet to see enough on any given Sunday to run the class. I wouldn't want to see either the guys who are adopting the 3.7 early or the guys who are waiting to make the switch penalized by making them separate classes and then dropping one or both some weeks week due to attendance.
