Default RC Gymkhana?

With the semi popularity of drifting I would have thought this would have caught on by now. I think RC gymkahana events could be a ton of run and wouldn't require the space the a full touring car track would. Has anyone heard of anyone trying this yet? For those not familiar with what Gymkhana is here are soime videos... Kinda drifting and autocross on an obstacle course.

That wicked Ken Block video been flying around the place, really popular and really good show!!

I don't see Gymkhana as being a good genre for the RC world. I have followed the sport for many years and I can tell you, like Auto-X courses the layouts are to tight for on road RC. The natural dynamic of the full scale cars are not available in the RC world. Without a clutch and handrbake, it just will not translate well I believe, then again...drifting proved popular even though it also lacks the said dynamics...

there was a competition recently in Cali, a bridge was setup and the course closely mimicked. several RC Drifting communities have been testing this too. here in the islands we have tested a variation, sort of a hybrid gymkhana and time-attack.

Not a fan of RC drifting in the slightest, but the gymkhana was pretty damn cool and along the lines of what I envisioned. Thanks for the vid.

I guess I am just too old, I don't get drifting with real cars let alone RC drifting....I can say that those guys are pretty good at what they do.

Hey guys...

I started a whole new class of R/C event here in Okinawa, Japan.

We call it "Drift-Khana". Basically, it's just like Japanese Gymkhana, but with R/C drift cars.

It's a timed event - single car on the track at a time, having to memorize the course. Seconds are deducted for miscoursing, or hitting a cone.

Have a look and tell me what you think...
