Default Setup for D2

Here is my setup I ran last Sunday, stock foam on a tight carpet track. I will try the one way again this weekend, as well as some other slight changes, but the setup is very close. Has a great balance of steering and traction, but my traction compound was gumming up (or at least thats what me and axiom concluded) making the car stick mid corner. Even with that (and me forgetting to add forward roll after I shortened the wheelbase) the car was tearing everyone up in the corners. I will also try the F block in place of the R block in the rear to get 1* of toe in. I think the car will be just flat out nasty with the one way All I have to say after the first race day ( more of a practice day...but it was the last day for asphalt racing so its carpet from now on!) is I couldn't ask for a better car or company to run for. Victor makes excellent products and it really shows on the track. Ok, enough talking, heres the good stuff .....

FRONT:
Yellow springs
60wt with #3 pistons
Front tower - outer hole
Arm - inner hole
F-0 block
Camber link inner upper
Losi hubs with AE 4* carriers
BRP .078 swaybar
1* camber
1.5* toe out
NTC3 steering rack
Diff set extremely tight, maybe 1/4 turn from lock
Ride - 4.5mm
Droop - 1mm
Tires - Jaco Plaid 28mm trued at 60mm - inner half sauced

REAR:
Purple springs
50wt with #3 pistons
Middle hole on tower
Outer hole on arm
R-2-0 block
Camber link upper inner
Losi 0* hubs
Camber link on the outer hole on Losi hub
Hubs all the way forward (short wheelbase)
.063 swaybar
1.5* camber
Diff set just slightly looser than front
Ride - 4.5mm
Droop - 2mm
Tires - Jaco Purple 28mm trued at 60mm - full sauce

Monster stock geared at a 25/100 (64p)
Gp 3300 cells
Hitec 5925mg servo
Novak gt-7 and XXL with an M8
Transponder mounted in the front bumper.
Protoform Alfa 2.0 - wing mounted forward

Most of the credit for this setup should go to Axiom...basically his with some of my changes. He gave me his setup to start with and I really only changed a few things. Trust me this setup is fast Let me know if I left anything out.

Thank you for the kind words Seth. Only difference on mine is the front diff is set to normal tightness (not tight, not loose, in the middle), about the same as the rear. I also had 1 mm droop all around and ran a Losi Alfa.

25/100 Seth??? Man that is a small track . You sure you're not undergeared? I was running a 32-33 tooth pinion, same spur with those size tires, and my more local track is 70x40...

I went back to a .063 bar in the front and no bar in the back, it feels more consistent that way, and if it lost any corner speed, I sure can't tell on the track or by lap times.

undergeared...hmm
My track is around 80x40 if I remember right....maybe I should try a larger pinion. I was getting killed in the straight but I just thought that was my motor...need new motors and batts. Motor came off the track around 130...actually I could be too small on pinion, that will get the motor just as hot as having it overgeared. Ill try something in the thirty range this sunday. Thing that didnt make sense was I didnt really have much punch out of the corners...

If you gear higher you'll have more punch and more top end. Motor's max torque is at 0 rpm. Only 130 degrees? For stock foam that is cool, 160-170 is where you wanna be approx. Mine are about that with a fan on the car (helps a TON). I would say go w/ a 33 tooth pinion to start. Remember...gear for 5 minutes, not the whole pack. Gearing higher like that will get more into the meat of that motor's powerband...it likes to be geared.

Ok, ill try a 33. Gear for 5 min eh? So you want me to dump 1 min before the race is over? We are running 6 min...ran that for stock rubber, maybe we will change to 5 for foam. Ive seen pics of your fan...maybe ill see what I can come up with. How do you power the fan?

This is a big weekend coming up for Warpspeed Racing. Chris Doseck will make his debut with the car and Ray Huang will be running his as well. Not sure if there will be any others..... Chris has spent a lot of time on his car machining things more, etc... I will try to get a pic out here for you guys when he is complete. Will be done tomorrow evening.

Dosie's a pimp. That car looks fantastic, and you can rest assured that he'll be VERY VERY FAST with it.

Doug D

The drivehshaft is probably the standard kit one-But Dosies a milling maniac!!! If you look closely you'll see he has even milled the threaded shocks parts and deeper countersunk all the screws!!

I will try to get his set-up-but to be honest-I/we am so busy right now getting ready for the Halloween Classic-it might not be till weekend is over!!

210+ entries, non stop from Thursday night (Club race) till Sunday!!

Ray
