Default LRP vs. Novak vs. Tekin Brushless Speedos?!?!?!?!

Going back indoors for the winter, I'll be racing 1/10th 4WD offroad with a stupid amount of motor, and I only want to buy ONE of them.

Novak - They seem to be holding up well, but they are HUGE!

LRP - I ran the TC Comp in my carpet car (only ran 13.5) and it melted down from normal use after a month, but I have heard the latest LRP Competition holds up well

Tekin - I don't have any experience with these...

Maybe speed passion?! I don't know about the latest and greatest brushless stuff as I pretty much only run 1/8 nitro offroad...

If you guys want to chime in with your experiences or any other suggestions, I would GREATLY appreciate it!!!

If you are running mod 1/10th 4WD, consider the Castle Mamba Max speed controller. It will handle ANYTHING you could possibly throw at it, is probably cheaper than any of the one's you listed, and is VERY adjustable via the CastleLink software.

I'm thinking the LRP and Tekin are at the top, Speedpassion and Losi slightly below, and Novak at the bottom. Not a lot in it, though.

I run a B44 with a Tekin RS Pro and a Peak Racing Vantage 4.5 turn motor. The thing is STOOPID fast. I actually managed to pass two other cars in MID AIR during a main. The RS Pro is easily programmed and adjusted. If you want even more tuning options a PC interface is available. Out of all the ESCs you mentioned, the RS Pro has the smallest footprint.

Hope this helps.

The LRP speedos are the best IMO. Go look at all the top top drivers, Hara, Moore, Baker, Mark R, ETC, its all LRP, or Nosram

LRP gets my vote!

I know what you mean, I asked Ralph Burch (the guy I work with) this question last year, and wound up with the TC Spec that blew out in about a month... They are great speedos, but I have heard the TV Specs don't like to hold up real well in the long run, it was bitchin' while it ran tho!!!

I appreciate the feedback guys!

I wonder how many of those guys buy their equipment. Myself I would rather give up a little and have something that will last and last.

I'd go with Tekin. I have two of their products, the mini rage and the FX-R. True, neither of them are 1/10 brushless controllers BUT.. they have great service, their esc's are great to setup even without their PC interface, have gobs of power and a very small footprint.

people were asking me if I was running a brushless when I was out running the 1/10. nope.. just a brushed motor with a good setup.

I sold my novak because frankly, it was nowhere near flexible enough for my needs.

I have 1 Tekin R1 and 2 Tekin R1 pro's and I'm extremely pleased with them.
I also had 1 LRP sphere that went bad, twice... 1 LRP sphere comp which also went bad and a Novak which held out for a year before it blew...
(I must say, all broken speedo's were replaced free of charge, LRP and Novak)

My advice, if you want a longer lasting speedo, go for Tekin.

I was waiting on KO's, if it's like their past ESC history, they're a little late to the party but will be second to none when it comes out.

My KO sponsorship also makes this decision for me, haha!

Just get the LRP as you know I have a ton of cars from 12 scale all the way up to 1/8scale. Run the TC spec in all my onroad and the regular LRP in all the offroad. Not one problem ever....
