Default brushless brands

I drive a 416, mostly in stock competition.
I used to drive brushed motors but switched my EC to a nice Tekin R1 Pro and want to drive brushless now.
I allready have an Orion 17.5 BL motor which runs very nice (aldough I noticed a slower topspeed when driving against my mate who runned a 416 as well, with a LRP 17.5)
I'm thinking about buying a 10.5 and a 13.5 brushless motor.
As I said higher, I really like my actual Orion 17.5 ... Nice black coloured, runs without heating...
but what brand should I buy: Orion, LRP, ... when deciding to buy a 13.5 and/or a 10.5 BL motor. I know LRP is decent quality, but so is the price
Are there some brand-related pros and cons?

I've been extremely pleased with my Trinity DUO 13.5. I'm not the biggest fan of Trinity, but I can't deny the motor has been outstanding. Supposedly, they have a new "Pulse" motor coming out in a couple of weeks. I definitely plan to give that one a go.

I've never been terribly impressed with the LRP motors. Maybe the new X12's will be better.

The Orion motors look great, but my 10.5 was quite a bit slower than other brands. Not sure if the 13.5 is the same way. Ran the 17.5 in Vegas, and it was very nice, but it's the same motor everybody ran, so I'm not sure how it compares to the other brands.

Did you gear-up with the 17.5 when you put it in? It should have a FDR of about 4.2-5.0 depending on track, etc. That would be roughly a pinion of 37 spur of 69 if your internal ratio is 2.5. Otherwise, top-speed will be lower than others who are still brushed or 17.5 with the higher gear.

Yeah, you have to gear way up to get that top speed. I'm running at 4.1 FDR with a 64p 80 spur, 48 pinion at about 165F. And I keep right up there with everyone else.

well I was running the same car, same ratio. Only differences were the setup and the motor.
Now I know a setup can do a lot of things but not really on topspeed on a long straight AFIAK, not since Toe and camber were the same.

Different motors respond differently to gear ratio. Even though both motors are 17.5 motors they are likely to need different gearing to get similar performance.
