Bingo. I'm from the US and even I'll admit that it's total rubbish to piss and moan about the surface that the WORLDS is being raced on because a few Americans from the northern part of the country didn't spend the time to go outside to practice for the most important race around with their 12th scales. They've only had 2 years to get their cars prepped.. stop whining about it and learn to drive on something other than carpet. Asphalt is the more challenging of the 2 surfaces, anyways. That alone should make it the choice to see who the best driver in the world is.

The last two 1/12 Worlds held in the USA have been run on.......ASPHALT!

2004 - Kissimmee, FL

I can only think of a couple of tracks that i would even consider running my 12th on in the UK, the circuits just aren't designed for it...and then there's the weather to contend with!

Surely the fact that the entry was so poor indicates most peoples preference.

Thumbs up running with the big dawgs

nothing like running on asphalt it really makes for an exciting race and it evens out the playing field a bit too .last trime i looked the florida state series is still racing on asphalt and its one of the oldest racing series still running strong (onroad).now if the race in thailalnd was on sone of them smooth racing tracks for like the nitro cars as opposed to a regular parking lot style man the racing would still have been fun and just as fast as on carpet . am prepping to race on asphalt parking lot this sunday so just remember its all just for fun its a hobby not a job...........

Judging by the look of the videos.. The track was smooth and the cars handling was amazing... I understand the choice to run 1/12th on carpet for some but to think that 1/12 should be run exclusively on carpet is lame....

There is absolutely nothing wrong with running 12th on Asphelt. And I think in many cases the racing on Asphelt is better. By looking at the video's so far I certainly haven't seen anything for the drivers to complain about.
We run on Asphelt in 12th all the time here in New Zealand and we also run on carpet. They are both good. I ran at the worlds in Florida in 2004 on Asphelt and that was great. I think the argument is a little redundent.

By far and away the biggest issue for 12th Scale is the issue of tires and Saucing of tires.
I would vote for spec tires and no traction compound on the tires. The track can be prepared but not the tires. But if you have to run traction compound then at least make it handout. That applies for both Asphelt and Carpet.

He resigned because they would not make his electric stuff the only thing legal.

Seriously. Trinity is everything that is wrong with this hobby!

Ridiculous and unfounded explanation, if this guy bailed he split for other reasons. Asphalt racing for 12th scale is fun predictable and as competitive as a racing on a rug.
