Default Armature Replacement?

I have a Checkpoint 19T Money Motor, and the comm has been cut a number of times and can no longer be trued. The LHS has a replacement armature for the checkpoint motor for significantly less than what a new money motor would cost.

So my question is....are there any major disadvantages to just replacing the armature as opposed to buying a whole new motor? Is replacing the armature advisible?

Your old can will probably have weaker magnets than a new one. High temperatures degrade the magnetic feild. Probably not as big of a deal with a 19T as it is with stock. Another thing worth checking would be the bearings. Of course they are replacable too...

How often was it cut? that's a lot of cutting to make it uncuttable anymore. Well, if you drive that much, consider the new motor. But aren't Team Checkpoints about $70-80 bucks for the whole motor and $30-35 for the arm? Saving the bucks is ok - but like the other guy said - the magnet could be slacking somewhat, so consider the whole thing.
