Solitude,

I've messed around a little with lipo in the XII and it worked well. It was much easier to balance and stay near the weight limit once we mounted the servo on the left side.
What about a 4.5T?

I'm outta my league there. Maybe John St. Amant could help you . I would think you should be able to get it to last at least a race day on carpet indoors with a mod. Outdoors might be a problem with the gravel and such, but again, I don't have any experience there.

Just finishing up my Xray XII... and I'm after a starting point for gearing, running 10.5 (Vortex) with the standard 96T 64P spur gear. mostly going to be running on asphalt

Hi mate, you'll find out for yourself that the XII is an awesome car. I am just running the basic carpet setup but on asphalt. The only thing I did is move the batteries backwards and made the back wider...

Better start taking of rollout instead of gearing as it directly affect you tyre diameter.
C on you motor specs sheet recomended correct roll out. But brushless motor just need a rollout based on motor temperature... so the book will say for exemple 34mm rollout to be on the safe side but I think you can higher 37mm.
Thats just en exemple but definetly check motor temperature and work you way from that, but your motor fact sheet will really help

http://www.teamorion.com/orion/produ..._infosheet.pdf

51mm roll out, so base you pinion size to match you tyre diameter.

Default XRAY X11 awsome on carpet.

Just completed the build and raced for the first time on carpet.

Motor a 7.5 brushless, Esc a Tekin RS rollout 43.5mm

Car was awsome.

Used box set up , only change fitted a Kimbro servo saver. Diff ran for 82 mins and still like silk. No complaints or vices, car is top of the class out of the box.
Tyres Jaco yellow rears 45mm and d/pink fronts 43m additive CS high grip.

Plan to buy the new servo mount anti tweak (or supposed to be) .Any info on setups of car or ESc please fell free to PM me.

Out of the box setup works perfect for me on asphalt...

Was just looking over some pics from the '08 Worlds and the Xray XII was running with gold/orange parts similar to the 009 sedan... it looked awesome, and I realise that it won't make the car faster, but bench racing is where most of my talent lies, I'm guessing it was a pre-production or team drivers only thing, but would've been pretty cool. Oh well looks like another trip to the anodiser.

No, they were kind of keeping the car hidden for obvious reasons. The car looked like every other link car, but it seems from my observations that the overall design still needs some work. The team seemed to be struggling with it a little.

Side links were non anodized aluminum at least of the prototype cars I saw.

That's a 2C lipo saddle pack. You need a 1C pack.
