Are there different versions of the X-12 Motor?
Am going to pull the motor out of my 12th scale and try it during practice next weekend.

Not that i know off.
I have had 3 13.5 X12 here and all did about the same RPM and AMP's.
On track it was the same.
The 4th X12 puzzled me a bit as it did give high RPM but it took a lot off amps also.
Disassembled the motor and shimmed it correctly(rotorsensor poles as close to the sensorboard as possible) and then it was ok.
Had good RPM, nice amps and a lot of speed on track.
With or without a lot of mechanical timing on the motor it did run very nicely.
Ever tried a different ESC with the motors?
I always use a Tekin with the LRP X12 or X11 as this gives me the best result and good temps in whatever car i run them.
Now using a X11 10.5 in my Pro10 and man this thing flies.
Good runnign time, great torque and nice temps.
Did a 20 minute run with 5000MAH lipo's and still had more MAH left.
With a X12 13.5 with the Tekin full open and a 7 minutes race, i use upt to 2400 to 2800MAH per 7 minutes and motor is about 60 degrees celcius and no fade at all.
It looks like you got a bad one or it was damaged due to heat problems?.

regards Roy
PS the B4 LRP are not so good as the X12

When you guys shim your motors, how much play do you leave in? Back in the brushed days, we would spin the motor under power to get it centered in the magnetic field, then shim it to about .015-.020 play. That way it left plenty of play and kept things from getting too hot because they were too tight.

What's the methodology for brushless?

I have about 0.1 to 0.2mm play max.
Depends on what brand motor it is.

Still new to the game. Have a solid 17.5 boosted setup, but winter season is here and need help with blinky. What insert should I use? Track is not big. My fdr is 4.0 with the 2 dot. Thx in advance

Picked up a 17.5 used but only got the one 4 dot timing insert with it. can you buy the inserts by themselves?

was planning to run this in my 12th scale but looking like it would be better in my tc the way it is now? 17.5 non boosted tc.

Have a tekin in my boosted 12th now but wanted to keep it in the touring car since the can is scrubbed ha.

Click here for X12 parts kit

Up to you, it'll run fine in either car. The 4Dot is 27.5* timing. Flip it over for 47.5*.

maybe ill put it in my blinky car then. my 12th scale is as fast as any of the other ones with my tekin in it, but only had 20deg max timing in the Touring car. motor feels beefier to turn over than the tekin too ha.

alright, im sure some of this is from the gear mesh which im sure is weird since i did the motor mount mod to my tc5 though is this just a particularly noisy motor? you just push the car along and its all CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK. seems to run well though. great throttle response and lots of punch.

had some difficulty with starting from a stop in blinky mode. had to set it up in the hotwire for whatever reason.

Are the LRP "optional" rotors(12.0mm,etc) ROAR legal for stock racing?

Is the 12.25mm 1S rotor legal?
