I have an X-12 17.5 on order and have a couple questions before it gets here. First, are these stock-spec motors ok at temps up to 100c like the mod ones are? Second, how well do they respond to sensorless timing advance? I'll be running it on a Tekin RS speedo, so it will switch over to sensorless mode once it gets spinning. I know most high-wind motors like this want a lot of timing advance, so just wondering if these are any different.

if you are running the RS speedo with a 17.5t you should run it sensored only. and download version 203 also called hotwire 4.0 its on their site somewhere or else you can find it in the RS thread. and you will be flying..

i find that my 21.5t X12 runs best at around 85-90c, if it gets hotter i loose power.

I have a x11 5.5t in perfect working condition...it's just too FAST for my purposes. If you have a x11 or x12 from 13.5-17.5T in great working condition and want to trade it for a 5.5t, please PM me! Thanks and happy holidays

Do you recommend sensored only mode to be able to take advantage of the timing boost/turbo mode or whatever they are calling it? Or does the RS have a problem with running the X-12 motors in dual drive mode?

The track I run on is small, barely any time at full throttle, so I'd rather have the reliability/efficiency of the dual-drive mode than the timing boost feature in the sensored only mode.

My question is related to earlier posts in this thread saying that the low-turn mod motors should only be run at the lowest timing, and advancing that only adds heat, not speed. I'm wondering if the same is true of the high-turn stock winds when advancing the timing on the esc for sensorless mode.

You have it. Look a little closer at your inserts.

Default Octa wind

What are the benefits of the octa wind series? Do you get a less aggressive punch, like, say, a quad wind Vs. a double one on a brushed? Or, hem... a Novak "L"?

Will the octawind be available in a 4.5T or 5T?

Hi Burito,

As the new motor may not arrive our Asian shores soon, would it be available at the coming TITC in February?

Thanks.

Guys,

What is a good gearing for a 6.5 motor (with 12mm rotor) in 4wd offroad, or any other class?

I am running 10.4, and the motor seems to get really hot, will measure temps when possible!

Racers.
What temp would you say the X12 starts to loose its efficiency?
Mine is peaking at 155F, after a 5min race.
Can i go higher???

Cheers

Look on the back side of the 3 dot insert.

155F is just getting warmed up. I do not recommend it but we have seen under certain conditions the motors running at 235F with no ill effects. That being said I do not think that a motor will tolerate that type of temperature on a consistent basis. Also bearings require frequent oiling if motors are running that hot.
