If you can get the order over $100, omnimodels will ship it for free. Motor is $95 on its own. Omnimodels is Tower with free shipping and slightly different coupons.

Just picked one up and can't wait to try it on Sunday!

Now.. question about the timing piece... i'm assuming -5 deg is 3 dots that you can see on the outside of the motor? Not the inside?

Since you're not supposed to use Profiles 7 & 8 on the SPX with the X12 motors. You lose the ability to gear for the infield and let the timing boost work its magic on the straightaway. Looks like the new SXX Stock Spec ESC will be a better choice for the X12 Spec motors since you will be able to adjust the Profile and Boost settings independently. That way you can have a linear profile with mad boost for the straightaway instead of having to use a really aggressive map to get any boost at all like with the current SPX.

Default LRP X12 17.5 & 13.5

I'm interested in switching over to the X12 for 17.5 and 13.5 but have some questions about not adding timing on th speedo. I'm currently using a Tekin RS Pro/Trinity Duo combo in both my TC and 1/12 scale. What is the consensus on using the X12on these speedos and what type of settings are people running (ie no additional timing?).

What FDR is a good starting point with the -5 degree timing. I run the LRP SPX and with the duo I run full timing and 5.49 fdr now

For those who ran the 17.5 this weekend, did anybody have problems gearing this motor to get it not to fade mid way through the race?

Yes, I ran into the same problem. By the end of the day I ended up at -10 timing (4 dot) with an FDR of 5.57 with 2/7/1/1 on my SPX. It was about 160 at the end of the run with one high speed 25mm fan. This set-up stayed strong for the full run.

I know your not supposed to use profile 7 or 8..... But I'm a sucker for it.

It was slightly faster than another competitive driver running a ballistic (I believe) and Tekin with Vegas 200, and good out of the turns. There is also the caveat that I was running a shaftie (Evo V MS).

I still don't feel this is the "best" set-up, but it should be a good start. This was rubber tire TC on carpet.

I almost mentioned that possible combination, I just ran out of time to try it (great minds think alike?!?!? ).

watched a friend nearly sell his car b/c of 1 of these x12 motors. any1 have an issue where regardless of prgm'g, speedo, radio settings trim, load/noload....where on the gas lil or a lot when the motor slowed down to a very slow 'idle' (if we were talking bout our daily drivers) lock as if it had full brake? every time no matter what we thru at it, this motor would do it. 3rd offroad race on it. did it in a 2w and 4w as well. poor guy. gave em a losi 10.5 to get outta dodge and make the day.

I've noticed the motor has a lot of natural cog, and made the car transfer a lot of weight forward off-power, and sometimes swap ends. Adding some throttle trim ("creep") seemed to counteract this nicely. That said, the motor is slower than my DUO. :-\ And I'd love nothing more than to be rid of Trinity motors.
