Default Current 1/12 models?

I'm back into RC after a long time away. Some friends of mine talked me into 2WD offroad to get back into it, so I have been having fun with that for a few weeks.

However...my real love is these zippy little machines. I'd like to pick up a 1/12 again. My last onroad car was an RC12LS, so it's been awhile.

I'd like to get back to some onroad 1/12 driving, but I'm afraid I have lost touch with what's out there.

If it's not too much trouble, could I get a quick list of the cars to look at these days?

Thanks.

The new Associated car the rc12r5 is very nice and can be converted to be either a link car or a t bar!

depends on what you are after. lots of club racers seem to be happy with their BMI cars. But if you look at the results from most any major race in the last few years, then it's hard to overlook the proven success of the CRC genX cars at virtually every big race. Curiously the BMI's have not fared very well at major races, which is somewhat of a puzzle since people on the local level do seem to like them. If you wanted a tbar design, then occasionally the CEFX or Hot Bodies cars have done well at big races, but their results are not as consistantly dominant as the CRC team's. Just judging by sheer numbers (and largely because of the excellent support and years of focus strictly on 1.12th scale), the CRC ride is a really excellent choice.

I thought Sean said they couldn't find enough interest for the t-bar conversion so they weren't going to do it?

But yeah +1 Team Associated RC12R5 I am a Associated guy i only left them once and i will never do it again.

well first off welcome back to 1/12!!! It sound like you are coming from the same place I did. Late 80's early 90's. I was familiar with the associated 1/10 and 1/12 cars myself.That said I have owned a couple link cars and just dont care for them.I opted to stay with a t-plate car because it is what I knew and just felt comfortable with them.They are still plenty competitive.List of t-plate cars ;
hyperform razor
irs rugrat
corally
crc t-force
12l4 (is still available)
slapmaster
Team kwik
cefx phoenix
hot bodies
bmi
list of link cars;
12r5
crc genx
diggity designs
speed merchant
hope that helps you out.

Thanks very much! There certainly seem to be more options now than there were then.

I appreciate the responses. I'll start researching all of these. I will try my best to avoid too many naive questions (for example:T-bar? Link?), but no promises. :-)

We dont really push the big races much. We have had 1 driver or friend who is of top level and usually always makes the top. All the cars work very well. They are all capable of winning the big races. Just some companies concentrate more on the big races than others.

Yea but for not being as big as Associated or CRC you have came out with a really good 12th scale car and if i wasn't such a diehard associated fan the
DB12R would be sitting on my bench.
