17.5 BL gearing in xray T2

Hi all,
i have searched hard for info on this subject in threads but couldnt find it, but i bet its been asked before, sorry:p
i have an old (pre '007) T2 xray and a 17.5 BL novak motor. novak says 3.5 FDR but what are people using and how do you get it (spur/pinion) in a T2. Also, what is the internal drive ratio. Applogies if this is somewhere else. Thank you in advance

Internal ratio is 1.7. Start with something like a 3.9 FDR. For 64p, Xray makes down to a 104t, though you can't reach the really low FDRs with that spur.

thanks adamge,
are you talking for rubber tires (ie 63mm)? are there any after market suppliers of small 48p spurs that fit the T2?
thanks again

Yes, rubber tires. The numbers I mentioned won't be perfect, but they should get you started. Have some pinions larger than what you need to arrive at that FDR, because there's a decent chance you'll need them.

so has anyone used the kimbourgh spurs in the xray t2. I found a 76 tooth 48p one that would give me the right FDR but will I have to machine it? ah well i think i may be the first person to have done this crazy gearing that novak recomends in a T2.....i will let evryone know when I find the solution.

The Associated/Kimbrough goes down to 69T in 48P, Kimbrough part number #150 or ASC3921. You will have better luck going to 64P, with gearing down to 76T by PRS and 74T by RW Racing.

thanks for that. The main reason I was going to stick with the 48p is because i have a lot of pinions in the right range from my other car! thanks for the info ercwhtsd, do you (or anyone else for that matter!) know if the kimbrough spurs will need modifications to fit in the T2? i have access to a lathe but the less work the better, no?
cheers
