Default Need Help with Specialty GEARING

Dont know where in the forum this would belong so I will take a shot here

Here goes

What do I do if a company such as robinson racing doesnt care the gears I would need to get a certain ratio?

is there any alterantive?

I would need something insane like a 145 spur and an 11 pinion

either way you cut it I need a a gear ratio above 13

the setup is simple 1.1 gear box

But I need to run 5.5" tires

any help would be greatly apreciated

well so far what I have come up with is that a 1/24 scale slot car also uses a motor with a 1/8" output shaft much like a 1/10 scale 540 motor

1/24 scale slot cars run pinions all the way down to 7 tooth with a 64 pitch

This means I could run a 125 spur from robinson and a 9 tooth pinion which would give me 13.889 gear ratio

I hope thats a good ratio for my application because by the looks of the pinion I would have to jb weld it on the motor shaft

here is a link to the pinions, says there 1/8" shaft

Check with Stock Drive Products, York, or Berg. These are all industrial component manufacturers. They have huge inventories of just about any spur/pinion/belt you could imagine. And if you ask for a sample you might get the stuff for free. You could also request catalogs if you think you could be nededing this kind of stuff frequently.-Jeff

You're a little mistaken on the slotcar gears. The 1/8" axle gears aren't pinion gears, that's the spur gear. The pinion gear has around a 1/16" hole for the shaft.
