I'll speak with RC America again this week to check on the status of the T2'009.

Perhaps they have a bunch of 008 stock they want to move out first.

That's not bad considering the US Edition Phi is running about $489-$499 and the Tamiya is in the same price bracket as the Phi. Does any one have any idea how long Xray will be running the "Limited Edition" Orange?

I think the orange will be a constant except T2'009 owners can buy optional aluminum parts of various colors.

RC America does have the 008 kits in stock and they are selling the T2'008 at a discount. However, this is not the reason why the T2'009 isn't out. It's not like US XRAY customers will decide to get the T2'008 because the T2'009 is not available. If anything RC America would want to release the T2'009 as soon as possible so they can capitalize on the initial high demand and not to lose customers to international dealers who already have the kit.

Yeah they are in box in separate bag marked as LiPo conversion kit.

personally i'm waiting for a car that is really designed for lipo's. the lipo instructions leave out the part where you need to add 150g of weight to make the car legal, even with 5000mah packs. i made an alum lipo plate (weighs ~100g) that moves the battery slightly outboard from the centerline allowing the battery to miss the top deck. still maintaining perfect left/right & front/rear weight balance and uses the regular battery mount.

this is the first one i made, the next will look a little better, be a little thicker under the top deck in the center and change the way the screws are done for the battery holder.

so far works great with the SMC 5000mah battery.

I like the way your plate is attached to the car not the battery. Nice out of the box thinking.

actually this is one thing i thought a lot about because it doesn't allow the whole side of the chassis to flex (good or bad i tend to run stiff chassis so can't notice a difference) and also if not machined perfectly flat could tweak the chassis. This is one reason i'm waiting for a purpose designed lipo car where they have actually done the hard work and the testing...

What if you made the part that goes in the slots a little deeper, then attach it with some o ring between the chassis and plate?

That would raise it up of the chassis slightly and allow the flex.

About what is the time frame between the two different method (Air Parcel vs EMS). Meaning about how long would it take to reach me here in West Virginia (Zip Code - 25560), a week? Two weeks?

Simple answer. There are prepared holes in chassis to move motor mount forward, but there isn't available kit to do that yet.

I spoke with Ralph at RC America and they expect to get the T2'009 kits in about 2 weeks. No price yet, but it will definitely not change between 12/31/2008 and 1/1/2009. Also, the first shipment has kits for US and Canada so LHS will get them at about the same time. Follow the link if you want more details.
