I think it may be the pivot pin (the one that goes inside the drive shaft and has the setscrew that holds the pivot pin) that sits inside the driveshaft, when you tighten the set screw it puts a little pressure between the pin and notch for the driveshaft, almost like the pin hole isn't centered correctly. I had this happen when I set up some aluminum drive shafts from the spring steel ones as well, but I think the only fix was to switch the pivot pin. You could try to swap this part between the 4 drive shafts.

For those that are wondering about the difference between the 008 and the 009 chassis. There are extra holes for the motor mount that will change the motor location that is suppose to make it more brushless motor friendly, the official release is suppose to be later next month, probably a 2 piece replacement and different belts to make it work. The battery slots are also located more forward and very (if 1mm) out from the center, althought both are still the same overall width.

Good times..

I would not rush a build again, to me the build is worth savouring, specially an xray build

I ordered some from rc-cars24.com last week. I believe they are out of Austria and they have been shipped to me already in Canada as well as the new Xray Xll and some spare parts. Not sure if I got the last two or not.

I had major binding issues with one of my rear aluminum drive shafts. After many parts swapings I narrowed it down to the drive shaft itself. It only bound up when the set screw was tightened. From all my testing I found the slots on each side of the shaft that the pin slides in are not in line to each other. A little dremeling help free up the pin. I figured it was just the aluminum shafts but it sounds like a spring steel problem also. Not very often you catch XRAY with mistake but oh well could be worse.

What are all the light weight parts that come with 009?
Are ecs driveshafts included in front?

No ECS, just the aluminum rear driveshafts and 4 of the light axles. No other lw parts with kit.

Thats pretty much what I was getting at with the above post and that was with the aluminum shaft (as well). I found that it was the actual center pivot pin that holds the steel pin via the set screw, only happened when it was tightened. Swapped that part out and the problem was fixed with no dremeling.

an issue like this with some other companies and people would be all over it crying bloody murder, conversely still other companies the response would be 'oh its always been that way, here's the workaround'....

fickle we are

my wife got me a 009 for christmas also but i found out she had it since the 12th of dec and ordered it from europe on the 2nd it was 506 shipped
i spent thursday night(4-12) ,all day friday 11-3am and from 11-6 saturday
building the 009 (first 7-8 hours [just the build])then puttin all my electrics from my 007 into the 009 and then going thru the 007 and puttin my sons electrics into it from his fk04 then doing the balanceing act and of course the setup board/tweek station my butt/legs ached all day sunday from sittin in a wooden kitchen chair for almost 31hours i took a smoke break about every 2 hours but it was all worth it sunday night
i havnt built a kit since 2001 (tc3 FT) and the xray kit was very clean to build all you had to do was put it together (99%) unlike the associated cut, sand, check build....
i wish the old color springs would work on it though with those springs it will not go below 6mm ride height

Is there a conversion chart from the new dark springs to the old colored springs?
