It's interesting that if i recall it was the US that swayed the vote on cell count - i.e to keep it to 6, and then not many US guys even go to the race. Oh well.

Know a guy who owns a ping pong ball factory?

Real shame about the US teams, Thailand is a very friendly nation. I'm sure as usual the media beat the security issues way out of proportion.

Good luck to all the Aussies attending!

I honestly dont think drivers from the US are not attending because of where it is. Our economy is not doing that great right now and onroad racing has suffered some from this. Which I believe cause some of the best US drivers to not get there contracts picked up or renewed by the US distributors of some of the manufacturers. Some right now it just comes down to money. As soon as we as a country get back on track guys will come back to the hobby cause they will have more money to spend and then we will see the return of more US drivers at the next worlds. I am confident in that.

Racing in Thailand is a cheap race meeting compared to other locations for the racer .. food and accommodation is cheap, the people are friendly, the so called political unrest is non existent. The track is good.

What more do you need .. ahh yes ... friendly locals

Like Wallstreet said, money...money...money....It's not very cheap for a the average guy to fly halfway around the world for a race....and if you are a team driver, in the US, you probably have noticed that US teams have shifted their focus to 1/8th scale off-road. So good luck getting a ride to a race that is not 1/8th scale.

The US dollar has held up well against the thai baht.. hardly changed in 12 months. The Australian dollar has slid 30% against the thai baht in the last 4 months and yet Australia still has more drivers attending the Worlds than the Americans. And the majority of the Australians are privateers ... not sponsorship. My guess and this will get me flamed is the following:

* Majority of Americans would not have a clue where Thailand actually is

* Mention political unrest and the Americans hide in the States

* Poor support for any event unless it is in the USA

The hook is out with not much bait .. wonder of I get a bite

Dan the Man ... ping pong balls ... nah .. there are far better tricks than that

Nah, if there was a stock class at the worlds we'd have the most entries
