Tire for smooth assphalt?

I know it has been asked before, so sorry in advance. We are having a ROAR Region race on our outdoor assphalt track in two weeks.

I have ran nothing but foams on it and the ROAR race is rubber tires only. So what tires would you guys recommend?

I am thinking TakeOff 27s but I would like to know what everyone thinks about Sorexs, Pits, etc... I will be running stock and mod sedan. The track is extremely smooth and it is a permanent track. The tempature this time of year is 65 to 70F.

Thanks,

The Take Off CS27s are good. Id try the Sorex 36Rs and the CS22s from T/O as well. Im not too in the know about Pit tires

Default Tires for smooth asphalt?

CRASH;

Based on your description or the Track surface, I would recommend a set of Sorex 32R's and some Take-Off 27CS's.

This should cover any conditions that you may find on that day.

I should comment, that many ROAR races require using Hand-out Tires, depending on the class entered.

Thanks, It is not a handout tire race fortunately. What inserts do you recommend for the Sorex's? The lhs does not carry Sorex inserts, but they due carry hpis.

Thanks,

Default Tires for smooth asphalt?

CRASH;

Basicly the Firmest insert that will still provide decent grip should be used. This keeps the Car responsive and helps support the Tire Carcass better.

Since you mentioned running Foams on this Track before, I would say an HPI 'Green' insert will work great. If you would like a little more Air-Gap. Try the Yokomo 24mm 'Firm' inserts. Either of these two combinations have worked well for many People, including myself.

For the Take-Offs, I have only used the Pre-mounts, but have never had a reason yet to complain about them.

I'd love for someone to come up with little tubes so I could play with the air pressure in a tire...

Sorex 32Rs will do just fine... But these excellent tires will never be glued to sorex dish rims!
