Talking spur and pinions

hello josh...

what's the difference between bigger and smaller spur/pinions when using the same ratio....???
i.e.:
90/15 = 6
78/13 = 6

supposing I'm running my car with both spur/pinion combinations i wrote above, what the differences on performance??

thanxxx...

Hi Josh,

thanks again for the quick reply,
when you say you use the losi rear hubs, do you mean the XXX rear hubs or the XXX-S?

as the XXX-S rear hubs will make the car's rear track width wider due to the offset of the outter bearing

thanks

Intel

Intel,

The non-offset rear hubs is what he was speaking of.

I was wondering when the truck bodies I saw from the autoshow were going to be released? I want to run one on my sedan.

I saw your dad in the footage on the Toyota site...wish they would have used a model instead because personally, I don't find Jerry very attractive.

@josh
i am wondering why top guys like u always find a good setup within a few runs.
do you have a special order when changing the setup?
for example, if ur car hast to much steering entering the corner and not enough coming out of the corner. ther are a few things that could be done: changing body, caster, rollcenter , antirollbars...
how do i know where to start

FTSPEEDWAY - Thanks for the invite. I'll have to stop by and check it out!!

JCB - I sent my entries in... I hope they got them!!

JoshR85 - I didn't have diff trouble. I tried cutting every other tooth off of the diff gears to make the car more free. I also broke a rear belt because of that...lol... No diff trouble - just testing.. I don't think I'll be back - I have to go to the 200mm Pre-Worlds in Brazil!!

SalvadoriRacing - The 15/90 will have more roll when you get off of the throttle. The 13/78 should have more punch off the corner.

Intel - The XXX-S hubs and the TC3 hubs are the same - UNLESS - you are talking about the "offset" hubs that Losi sells...

Unregistered - lol... The only question is... who are you??...lol

TC3 - No special order. We've just raced on a lot of different tracks where different combinations work well. Usually we can tell what the car is doing right away and adjust accordingly. It also depends on the car - I know the Asc guys don't make the same adjustments as I do now with my Xray....

HI JOSH....
thanks for answering.....i have 2 questions...

about the preworlds..... I'm really happy with the notice that you'll come here in Brazil to run the preworlds.....All of brazilian drivers would like to meet world level drivers like you....
I'm the webmaster of IFMAR WORLDS 1/10 I.C. 2004 website....you can visit >>>> www.rc-riverside.com
can you say what car you'll run???

About the spur/pinion......should i use bigger spur and pinion for "open" tracks and smaller spur and pinion when i run at "tight" tracks???? or these setting will improve only acceleration progressivity and does not matter the track layout???

thanxxx!

hi Josh,

I noticed that you mentioned that you cut every other tooth off your front diff and I saw it in the pics here on rctech, was there a noticable difference in the drivetrain? I am looking into ways to "free up" my drivetrain on my Evo2 and wondered what other thoughts or things you have tried to free up the drivetrain?

Thanks in Advance,
Brandon

Hey josh,
since you now run an FW05r why don't you also post another "ask josh" thread in nitro room?
You can also help a lot of nitro racers especially Fw05 users. Just a suggestion!

Josh is still waiting for lazy old me to create the Pros forum. But in the meantime, it's perfectly fine to talk nitro in here.

I am still waiting to upgrade the software, it's a long process getting there. I'm still testing the new stuff, I don't want to screw the forums up.

Futurereal,

I can't imagine the carnage if you were to change the software prematurely and rctech was to go down..even for a short while. My local forum for southwestern ontario had a server crash, and the entire local racing community were like lost souls drifting in a void

Take your time, this place rocks, that's pretty evident by the size and the quality of the user-base that you've built up here
