This um.. lower rear member stiffens the rear. By lifting it you could get the diffuser tucked in near the motor and get a bigger diffuser. But by removing it you need to add more weight to compensate for it being gone as it was in the most efficient place as well as being in one piece with the rest of the lower plate.
Today some make a angled combination of the anodized blue and the lower rear stiffener. But it probably adds weight as there is now eight screws where it used to be four. The gain here is actually just the lowered CoG which is important too ofc.

Personally i think a one piece in solid plastic/some sort of composite would do best for weight and stiffness. Could more easily be molded to fit a diffuser too. Problem here is ofc. that these F1 cars are made for blinky classes with timing to the moon. So they run quite hot right?

We will see if they ever do it. Running less wing means less drag and front axle lift so it could happen unless high speed stability is a really big deal and the diffuser might not provide that in the same way. The wing is also more consistent over bumps.

All motor pods can be fitted with a diffuser, we have been using diffusers on F1 chassis for over 20 years. The TRG diffusers work very effectively while also protecting the spur gear from damage. You fit them between the lower plate and the motor mount, making four holes for the screws to pass through, and cutting out a hole to clear the motor.

Yes, we had been using the Tamiya 53151 Diffusor in the Tamiya Euro-cup since the 90's. Worked great, especially as previously mentioned in the rain, and lets not forget the good old Tecnacraft Aero-pod for 1/10 & 1/12 Oval Pan cars.

Well, that is true, but remember back then we ran out doors, very rarely did we have races on Carpet. So my experience with them is based on Outdoor tracks.

And now with the latest chassis mounted Rear Wings, I do not see any room to be had as stated.

Thanks, I modified the file to put a 10mm diameter cylinder on top of the hex so I could do fronts too. Had someone print it out for me, it seems like it will do the job fine. Now I need to find a 4mm thumbscrew big enough.

Check with some of the hardware stores, Sometimes they have metric hardware and brass knurled "nuts" / Thumb screws.
