I just bought a rc10f6 here in the forums. It comes with a 64p spur gear. Can I run a 48p spur gear? I ask because all my gears and pinions are all 48pitch. Also what is the ideal final drive for a 25.5 motif g2 motor? I was thinking somewhere around 2.4 final drive ratio.

Does anybody run a cooling fan for the motor? I know for touring car and for off road everybody runs a fan.

I've never bothered and I've never felt I was compromised for it- my feeling is an F1 motor is pretty much out in the open, if its not getting enough air flow to keep it cool in that situation I can't see how bolting a tiny 20mm fan to the side of the pod is going to help that and anything bigger is too much of a compromise to pod balance/weight IMO

Just during the Summer. The rest of the year not so much.

I have used a fan when running in the Texas Heat at times, given that between high radiant track temps on fresh asphalt tracks and the general ambient temps. It does help! Yet when its not 90-115 outside, we do not run a fan.

Why RobK? I am curious as to your reasoning.

I run indoor year round on black carpet, motor co es off 130 deg or less depe ding on layout gearing. Never had an issue in anyway.

If you are in an area with high ambient temps I could see it, otherwise there really shouldn't be a need with these motors for such a light car.

The reasoning is because it is possible to cook the motor lol.

I always run a fan at all times too. Why not? Hardly a lot more weight but never have to worry about temps. I've gotten a motor past 150F with a fan depending on gearing, track layout, and duration of the main.

The fan is there to help with motor fade. I don't like the motor to get much over 110 * F indoors. I had an experience at the US Indoor champs that made me re evaluate what the motor is doing over the run. Simply put, if you are not within 1 or 2 tenth of hot lap when you end, and your car is good, your motor is too hot.

That was the level headed, informed answer we come to expect from RobK.

I was only considering keeping the temps below damage point, but fade is something I assumed the battery was causing.

Worth a try, thank you so much. Always another point of view to consider.

Just finished my first f1 build, well all but the decals. Love the look of these cars on the track.

F6 with a reedy sonic m3 25.5. Does anyone have any recommendation on rollout? Blinky esc, crc black carpet on a fairly tight track. (think snowbirds style)
TIA!

Does anyone run F1 classes anymore?
Nothing here in AZ. I'd travel to California or Vegas if it is a decent group maybe once a month.
