So, I wonder what's the latest on big-al's Gold Leaf Lotus 49 VF1 body he has been showing on this thread? If you're out there big-al, have you finished the body yet? Any more pics to show us?

I sent him a new nose to replace the damaged one...he's being a little cryptic with me but it looks like he may have something coming that will blow our socks off (even more!)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawesoooome big-al!!!
Such a fantastic work! And a good chassis choice!

I was very pleased with my F104v2 today, as I once again sweeped the Clubrace.

The car is in box setup mode. Only changes are soft springs in front. As tires I love Tamiya A's for the rear and B's in front. On our unprepared asphalt track the car is tame on braking and accelerating, but agile in the corner.

Today a former F103 guy showed up with a brand new F113. After an experienced clubmember adjusted his differential, the car was great. I was lucky today that he couldn't use the cars potential, but he let me drive with it... Phew it can go at least one second faster per lap than my F104v2. It just lies so much calmer on track over the bumps. I mean I said my F104v2 is tame, but still I have to correct direction over the bumps. The F113 is on rails compared to that.

Wow Big-Al that is amazing! Such a work of art.

I almost hate to post this after that but I got some more work done on my SP-1 Canon/Porsche. Finished up the driver with a generic red/white paint scheme in keeping with the car's theme and added the tire branding logos. All that is left now is some wing decals. Those may take some time though so it will be off to the track for some testing tomorrow.

Amazing big-al....those rear suspension upper arms are what I want to do as well. How did you make yours, and are you going to add the lower arms/stays as well?

I believe that if you get that F104 VII chassis shown, you will need to modify it a bit to work with the VF1 body. You will need to cut/dremel off the side wings for the electronics on the chassis, otherwise they will stick out beyond the body and ruin the scale appearance that you are obviously going for. Use a "shorty" lipo and put the esc and receiver inline on the chassis and it will work. Not sure what other mods you may need to do, as Manny designed the body for the standard F104 chassis. However, based on what I've seen so far, I am quite sure that you are up to the task!

Completely amazed at some of the work some of you guys are doing on here

This being my first post, I should really introduce myself. (as far as I can tell this is the only F1 thread).

Im Alex! I have built about 5 or 6 Tamiya kits over the years, Last one back in 1999. Now I have decided to get back into it, With an F1 car!

Hopefully I am posting in the right place - If not, Feel free to ridicule me If I am in the right place, I will take a chance and ask a few questions here if you dont mind.

Firstly, I havent bought anything yet, Trying to decide if I should build the TRF101 or F104 pro V2. I will be using it for modern F1 bodies.

Secondly, Im in the UK, and cant find anywhere that sells either of those kits. If there are others from the UK, do you just import them?

Thirdly (Sorry!) Whats the popular bet for a) A motor, and b) Servo's transmitters and receivers? If I had a budget of 250 for this am I likely to get something good?

Lastly, Can anyone recommend F1 Labs work? I would like to get a "Display" shell done by them, But can't find a contact bit, or prices up on the site.

Well, I look forward to sharing my Horror stories and moments of joy on here, and keep reading and looking at the impressive stuff I have seen over the last 500 pages(!)
