Default F109 bodyshell

Does anyone know of the bodyshell from the F109 kit resembles any particular team in any year? Or is it just a stylised F1 shaped body?

The F109 is a generic body and wings based on 2006-08 cars and it would be suitable for just about all of them. It's a mix between the McLaren MP4-21, MP4-22 and Honda RA106.

They do bring the back and sides of the shell in tight. Which can mean cutting material off to clear the chassis and wiring.

Aside from that the difference is you'll have to cut and fix the side pods on to the body. Tamiya supply small screws to do this. Some use super sticky double sided tape or certain glues to do it. Adds a touch of weight (not enough to worry about).

The Tamiya Ferrari F60 body also comes with that option. I find it easier to mask off a one piece body, rather than working out how three parts will need to line up.

Hope that helps.
Thanks guys, I'll build it as one piece then. Seems like the most simple approach.

yeah, that's gonna be my next option, just trying to avoid loading the guy up with so many uppers, car has the adjustable upper links, so the stock uppers aren't necessary.....

I don't have a copy yet, but the July issue of RC World talks about the vintage F1 scene in the US....

I enjoy the stylish "VINTAGE F1"

Well decided to apply the tamiya x22 clear on to the helmet and over the decals, result good and bad news good news it didn't affect the decals and is nice and shiny bad news airbrush was playing up and in some sections to much clear was applied and has caused fogging so needs rubbing down again.
