Current setup

Didn't have enough for a class to race, but I did get some track time. Immediately noticed the difference with the servo. I was previously using a s3005 which was painfully slow. I had to use expo to keep from over steering. Now that I have a shorty pack, run all the way forward, the car is much more twitchy, and sensitive to steering input. It was drivable though, just need to get used to the new setup, and being able to turn later than sooner.
Edit: couldn't get the servo any farther back to get the linkages parallel to the arms, is this bad?

I am running the tcs tires right now, and noticed the longer you run, the worse they get after about 5min. I am guessing I should start setting up my car to work better after the tires start getting "loose", instead of setting it to work best when they are hooked up really good. The mains in an upcoming series will be 15min.

Another thing I noticed after running more than 5 min is the car really started to pull to the left on power. This started right when the tires started getting loose, and got worse and worse the longer I ran. We will be running the pardus tires for the series, and the other guy running tonight after the races noted the same issue as I, right around the same runtime. He was running the pardus tires. Braking became bad at this time too. Braking in a straight line resulted in the car pulling bad to the left. This could have been the brake amount though, can probably lower it some more.

I haven't messed with the punch control, don't even know if the Novak edge has it or not. I could put some expo on the throttle if not.

Ad finally, the front end skips quite a bit around the 180 turns, the rear does this too, but not as bad. It got through the turns good enough, but it seems like it could be faster if the tires were planted the entire time.

I've asked this before, but can someone link me to a good tuning guide for these? Are things like droop and ride height the same same as on a touring car? I don t even know where to being on the damper, what exactly it does and how it effects handling. Maybe a setup guide for tplate pan cars? This is my first pan car, and I am still learning how to properly set up touring cars and what changes do what, so I kinda need things explained in detail for me to understand.

This is by far my favorite class yet! I actually think they are fairly easy to drive in comparison to my VTA car. I think that has to do with the fact that you drive these more like a 1:1 rwd car, which I can relate to.

Thanks for any setup advice or opinions, I'm really wanting to learn as much as I can.

Anyone know where to get replacement blue turnbuckles? Mine are getting beat up using the included wrench, really need to invest in a good quality one.

I am new to F1 also but we have an F1 guru at our track. He's know as RacerRobert on here. The TC'S tires are rebranded Pit Shimizu 571 front 572 rears. I was told the the 571 tends to glaze over after a few mins. We run the 574 F3 soft on the front at our carpet track in Dallas and it definately helps. They stay great the whole run. Others can chime in on your other questions which I would like to hear also.

Yes...the rear F103 wheels are wider than the F104. In the rear F103 wheels will make your car 200mm wide and the F104 wheels will make your car 180mm wide. The front wheels have the same off-set so the difference is in the suspension arms which are more narrow on the standard F104. The F104W uses the F103 front arms to get the width right for the wide rears. F103 tires are also a smaller diameter than F104 tires so a F103 or F104w on F104 tires has a very high ride height.

The pardus tires are spec, everyone has to run them.

After sleeping on it I am going to move the battery all the way back for next weeks race and see how I like that setup. Im also going to mess around with the different tplates I have, and see what works best.

REALLY need a good full day of testing.

Still can't find the turnbuckles, even in black, or the ball cups.

I thought you were referring to the Tamiya TCS tires. Theses are the ones that are rebranded Pits. We had a guy in our club that ran at IIC this year and brought back the pardus tires. Our local fast guy tried them on our track and I think he came to the same conclusion you did.

I airbrushed my son's new F104 Ferrari F60 body. He built the chassis and I was his paint and body man.

He wanted something scale looking but didn't want to do the same old scheme as everyone else. We have one of the Proboat R/C "Miss GEICO" offshore racers that is a real rocket. We both love the look and the neon yellow/green paint that they used for the real one and the R/C version. So, I custom mixed that color to airbrush and then cut the GEICO decals by hand with lots of coffee yesterday morning. Parma Faskolor paint used.

It turned out really well. Racing it for the 1st time next weekend we hope!

Nice work Ph3nyx. Looks like a really good site.

To assist those of us who only speak English (myself included) I've added a link to a google translated version on our links page:

http://www.rcformula1.com.au/index.php/links Scroll down to RCF1 under the heading "F1 RC Fan Sites"

Hey Guys
im new to this Forum, but used to be a passionate F1 Driver with my Son back in the days. We have 2 F103's(a benetton b195 and ferrari 412t1) which we drive on parking lots and mostly concrete surface. They got a bit dusty over the last years so we decided to bring them back to life. Over the last months we completely took them apart, cleaned, reagreased everything and also decided to go with a few new extras. We went with the Carson/Tamiya CUP Machine, new bearings, new screws, ne gears and finally fresh 3000mah packs to keep it in "fun" budget. So now we are back on track having a great time.

Next step is to replace the pretty old yet not completely worn out tyres...i read about a lot of combinations for the F103 e.g. Shimizu 541 front 545 back combination? Which sums up to 66$ plus shipping for 2 sets...of course it seems not that big, but i guess they are competitive and that would be a little overkill
Is there a decent budget tyre or is this as close as we can get?

also...we didn't glue or put tyres together for about 10 years. what do we need if we decide to go with the shimizu tyres?

greetings

Thanks Dave, Jose.
Sorry for the language , but English is not my birth language and it will take too much time to me to translate all the site in English for now
But if someone is confortable with both languages , i'll be happy to make an English version with him
