Does anyone on here know where I can find some carpet setups for the F103R, something as kind of a jumping off point.

+1-Same here- anyone try the HPI car?
We also run on indoor carpet too in the winter.
On the east coast Tamiya parts are scarce.

What car to by?
If I was to start today I would by the F104 PRO, although it seems to be more pricier that other options it comes with carbon top and lower body metal shock for T plate and 540 motor. It's good enough to start racing. It has good quality and it will last (more crashes than less

I have not tried the HPI but I did see one and it looks to be all plastic.

Parts?
Its always a "search everywhere online" ordeal, but first I tried the source:
Tamiyausa.com
if no USA parts are to be found:
ebay.com / search for Tamiya (F103 or F104)
rcmart.com
Stella.com
rcmarket.com.hk

Here a couple of photos of my F104 "Salute to Felipe Massa" on the TCS 2009 Nationals.

Cheers!

Tamiya parts are only scarce if you
A. wait till right before a TCS race to order them
B. Dont bug your LHS about ordering them
C. Just want something to complain about
I just got a shipment of 104 parts last week from my LHS
I gave them a list of what I needed. and a week later they were here.
Bottom line, they will only be scarce if you dont put in the effort

Great racing guys! What esc motor combos were you using? Our local club only races with stock silver cans on a similar sized track as Tamiya's. It would be great if we can run a faster class to attract mod TC racers. Thanks.

It is indeed. I'm pretty sure it was posted in John's thread by the creator himself.

I can't speak for the other competitors but I was using a somewhat dated LRP Quantum2. We were all running Tamiya 32T Formula tuned motors and I was geared at approximately 60mm rollout. For the silver cans, I'm still trying to figure them out

Interesting that the 32T formula tuned runs that fast. We haven't tried those motors yet but perhaps its worth a try. Our past season's rollouts for silver cans ranged from 48 to 52 mm but we were running 30 minute mains then with mandatory pit stops so we had to balance speed with runtimes. Thanks.
