I think its more geared towards race organizations when they implement a FDR rule to a race. Instead having to count the teeth and calculate the FDR for each car, or be skeptical on how truthful a racer is in report the gears they used, the final drive gear ratio device reads the rotation of the motor vs the rotation of the wheel and calculates the FDR. This makes it much faster to go through tech and impossible for some bad apples to cheat.

I have an extra F1 car that I would like to try an LMP body on.

Does anyone offer a front bumper/body mount setup , to replace the front wing?

You can add body posts to this flat style 'wing'; https://www.ebay.com/itm/13319815771...Bk9SR8K89OfHYg

Tamiya made a GT style bumper for the F103GT that is discontinued. It was Tamiya Part# 50828.

Here is a link to the product description...

https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/spare...-spare-bumper/

----------

A possible option might be to modify the plastic front bumper that came with the Tamiya Wolf WR1 or Tamiya Lotus Type 79. Due to the lexan front wing on these bodysets, they had a large plastic front bumper to support the lexan front wing. It is Tamiya Part# 9338098 (https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/7-dig...-bumper-84122/). This part appears to still be available for purchase directly from TamiyaUSA.

Here are a few links from today (08/28/2023) where you can also buy Tamiya Part# 9338098

Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/s?k=tamiya+lo...ref=nb_sb_noss
eBay! - https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...umper&_sacat=0
Liquid RC - https://www.liquidrc.com/item/TAM9338098

Hope this information helps.

----------

Here are links to the Tamiya Kits (discontinued) that used this wing (that I know of)

- Tamiya Ferrari 312T3 (F103Rs) - https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/110-f...-312t3/f103rs/
- Tamiya Lotus 79 (F104w) - https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/110-f...type-79/f104w/
- Tamiya Wolf WR1 (F104) - https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/110-f...s/rc-wolf-wr1/

----------

One more possible option might be to use the front bumper from the Tamiya 47486 Tyrrell P34 Six-Wheeler (https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/110-f...-argentine-gp/)

This is a kit that is still available new. I've seen this kit in person, but I don't remember what material the front bumper is made from (FRP?). Since this car uses special "under-sized" front wheels, the front bumper may need to be modified to not interfere with typical 1/10 front wheels

It looks like the front bumper on this kit is Tamiya Item# 4014002 and can still be purchased directly from TamiyaUSA here - (https://www.tamiyausa.com/shop/7-dig...-bumper-49154/)

The GT bumper in the earlier post appears to be made by the company TRG (Technical Racing Gear). Part# is TRG5094. It include body posts with the bumper

Here is a link on RCMART from today (08/29/2023) where it appears you can purchase this Tamiya F103 GT style body bumper (https://www.rcmart.com/trg-gt-bumper-trg5094-00033267)
Here is another link on RCMART showing all of the TRG products including a kit (with the bumper) and several different wide non-F1 bodies for F104 or F104w. (https://www.rcmart.com/TRG)

Here is a link on FenixRacingShop for the same bumper (https://www.fenixracingshop.com/spar...-body-set.html)

Here is a photo from RCMART of the bumper with the body posts

Please note that I have NEVER ordered from RCMART.com or FenixRacingShop.com, so I cannot vouch or recommend ordering from either site. Always make sure to protect your information when ordering online.

I am only providing this information to save other hobbyists some time researching this product.

Iíll vouch for RC Mart. Iíve ordered odd stuff from them to Oregon and never had issues. When you canít support your local hobbyshop for obscure parts, RCMart is a good solution.

Lots of good LMP info shared here - thanks everyone.

Question - where to get LMP bodies in the US? I know Sidepiece Racing has the new Montech body, but what happened to WRC North America?

The f103 GT had a dfferent chassis plate, its front bumber is one the few parts that dont directly translate to a regular f103. The TRG bumber pirctured works well. If I remember correctly there were several other companies that sold a nearly identical part. The aftermarket lmp boddies for the f103 were moslt designed for the smaller f103 vs tthe typical f104 style.
