I'll be running soft front and rear team powers rubbers.
I think one surface will be smooth paved black top or asphalt and the other will be griddy school yard concrete like at a high school courtyard...if they still have those? Lol.

Anyway weather here is cold and wet. Im gonna say a max of 60deg F during track time. Why I went with soft/softs.

I have the tamiya front spring selection kit....but no idea what color cordinates with what stiffness or hardness. Lol.
think there's gold, silver, and black springs in the set. I'll do some research but rn I'm just gonna run the springs that came in the car.
Running a 21.5 reedy. reedy blinky esc g2. 6100mah zippy drag pack batt. Stock slip and 25t pin. Think the slip is like a 78t... idk I can't remember rn. Lol.
ty all for any advice and or suggestions. I don't wanna bounce but I don't wanna be stiff as a board either. Lol.

I will be there Saturday, I’ve run F1 @ SeaTac, mines disabled at the moment, will be running 3-4 other cars, Not sure of the turnout this weekend with weather conditions looking iffy, hope for the best., I’m of the thought soft soft will result in massive oversteer, You will need medium fronts if not hards, I have new in package powers I will bring, 21.5 will most likely be too much motor, you will be better served with a 25.5

Here in the USA we run 25.5 motors in F1. your battery is a little over kill. a 4100 LCG Trinity works fine. But have fun with what you have.

oh dang, I knew the soft/soft combo was iffy. idk why I did that. Late night ordering probably. I've read and read and read on the f1 site so again idk why I did that. lol.
TY I would really appreciate it if you brought those harder front end tires.

sounds like ill have to throttle it down. A guy named Dave helped me when I was at Tacoma rc trying to get this thing filled with new electronics lol. Cant remember if we were aiming for gearing ratio or FDR or even if they are separate or different lol but he was one of the few on road guys present at the time. They are mostly offroad their so they were puzzled too lol. ill be bringing a backup! LOL
ill also have to get that motor if I wanna run the f1 class in the future and not the rookie class LOL. oops.
here goes praying to the sun god Ra! Bring the sun in the NW! LOL its been dark and damp for far too long.

i guess seatac and galaxy are two diffrent tracks one being longer and one shorter and more tech?! idk.
thxs bullfrog! Hoping to get some track time this weekend!

Out of the tmaiya spring selection you'll want to use the gold ones. the silvers are super soft and colapse easily and the black springs are too hard for that track and will make the front end bounce. The f102 has a much higher rear grip bias compared to most modern cars so the TP tires will suite it better than most however the soft fronts are probably still too agressive. F103 is actually a good car for seatac, mine is nearly a full second a lap faster there on TP tires than my exotek. Back when they spreayed and better tires were readily available it was the other way around.

my rear axle isn't visible like yours is showing, also I'm gonna steal that zip tie idea lol! I debated running mine with and without the side batt trays and was gonna bring em just in case I was told I had to have em on. weight is weight lol.
Im still working on actually driving so performance isn't really a variable yet for me. lol. See you all on the track hopefully sun permitting!
Ill be at galaxy too Sunday hopefully and if I'm not drained from Saturdays event.

felt good.

Default 1st real run

well, ok...i went to my opening qualifier and main of the yr...
car was touchy on the throttle. oversteer is a deff possibility. Think i might dial back some steering and set more ETP or ill just learn to drive the thing. lol.
I can see it taking turns at high speeds. It wants to have speed. lol!
just a fine line between taking the turn and turning into it too much with the proper speed ect. Next payday...which wont get me in time for next race day... I wanna get a pair of front med and hard team powers to try out. Might even get some med rears. for hot and med/hot summer days that are coming.

I ran 2 of the zippy drag packs and tires finally started to break in. After two laps I could also tell the grip was on. lol. Just like my motorcycle or real f1s with cold tires.
After final mains. ppl started to leave and I wanted to get some more time in but my rear axle and driveshaft. rear end fell apart. It would pull apart. The main ball diff gear would lose the pinion and risk me taking teeth.
I put it back together at the track. Ran it again 1st lap it came loose again and i was just spinning. no power. lost gearing ect. kinda disappointing.
I took it home and rebuilt the rear end that night.

Should i use some loctite?> Does eveyone use some kind of seal or loctite on the end of the shaft where the tire bolts on? Or somewhere else? I was thinking just a small line like on brakes on a car or something to let you know its been worked on and it torqued. Just to let me know if its moved or not or needs tightening.

When i disassembled everything the inside plate of my ball diff has holes in it! Wear from either someone wrenching on it and it not being assembled right or just wear from time and run time. I held it up to the light in my kitchen and u can see light though it in some places! LOL
ordered a new one but that cant be good and hopefully wont effect performance until it totally disinherits.

thinking my rear axle set screws just lost grip of the rear axle where it seeds. Ill have to make sure I keep that tight between runs.

Another question! My 103 instead of having the caster spacer blocks in the rear to adjust rear axle height I have bearings. This is acceptable and ok? I plan on replacing them as they is signs of rust and wear.

Just picked up a Tamiya F104 Pro II to build for the upcoming TCS races here in the North East (CT, PA and NJ). Any set up tips? I picked up the optional front springs, carbon fiber axle, servo saver w/ alum horn, heavy pivot post and maybe 1-2 other items that I could find in stock. For tires I know they run the CRC Track Magnets at Jackson, NJ but not sure about the other tracks. Hoping to start the build this upcoming weekend. Thanks for any advice!

It might be wise to be spending hard earned dollars on Tires, The right tires will make the biggest impact.
