What's your impression for using the side shock instead of the Tubes

Sideshock works good, but needs rebuilds often. I feel the tubes are more consistant.

Depends on the car. I use 'side shocks' and never going back.

Looking for a body to do a classic paint scheme - something like a late 80's, early 90's - on a modern chassis, in my case Roche. Not really seeing anything from Fenix / Bitty / Montech that appeals ..... yet. I've been told Tamiya bodies won't fit.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Not much out there for cross battery chassis. That's why the old Tamiya bodies don't fit. Those old bodies might be wide enough but you will need to trim for side links (f103 Tamiya was a plate car) it can be done but you will have to get creative. Also, the F103 was shorter, so you will have to deal with that trying to mount to your modern chassis.

Be advised , old bodies like that might not meet some rules. Check your club first.

Thanks - didn't think about inline vrs cross batts. Just checked ROAR rules - was surprised that only foam tires are allowed.

I run the rochievo 2 here you can see how I trimmed the back of the body around the links and tubes.

Here's a different angle hope this helps, most of the narrow bodies you can make work on the Roche with a little creative trimming. I used curved scissors and go slow trim a little off at a time when the body is clear.

Body must not interfere with pod movement at all, not even a little bit. Even a slight rub causes irratic handling

I think you were reading some pretty outdated rules.

ROAR has always lagged behind on rules for years! Nobody has run foam tires since the 90's.

for the 2021 roar paved on-road nationals we are using the USVTA f1 rules - U.S. Vintage Trans-Am R/C Racing Series

Hopefully we get a decent field of F1s at nats.
The 25.5 motor was perfect for F1 at Jackson this weekend although figuring out what tire is best seems unfruitful.
