From Red RC

Think it's a new car or just new hop-up?

Of course it's not a new car, after all, rumors about the new buggy and new truggy were just that, rumors.

Lol, i wouldn't doubt it if they would release a new car...

I remember a while back when i first got my Type R ordered, as i was also looking at the '007. i promptly asked the hobbyshop manager "well, when will they release the '008, and what will be different?"

Now, i have known this guy for a while, and he allready had my money from a backordered type R, so there probably was no intention business wise for me to get the '007, and he replied- "I doubt they (Hudy) will, there is enough on this chassis to last them a while, plus there are no plans of releasing an '008, and at this time last year, they where allready advertising the '007"

Wheather or not this means anything, i don't know,

But the local fast guys at the track with last year's decals on them will sure look weird!!

For one, you won the 008. You're not out that much money unless you bought a crap load of tickets.

X Ray has released their new cars in late December to early January for the last 4 years. If you look at the history, you know it's coming around that time.

Regardless if they where to release one or not,

it is certain that the car they run at the worlds will not be simular to the "off the shelf" version,

whether or not these differences will make it into production, only time will tell.

Having spoken to a few people in the know, they believe there will only be upgrades for the '008 as opposed to a complete car.

How dare a company make improvements to their product each year!!!

XRAY does a phenomenal job making excellent advancements in the technology of competitive touring cars. Give XRAY credit, they've got a lot of racers thinking that they can only be competitive with the latest greatest car kit for that year. No matter what skill level they are.....Now that's some genius marketing.

Examples of this behavior are evident all over these forums everytime XRAY releases a new kit. Typical responses are of anger and disappointment. People feel their $500 008 kit is now obsolete and they have to have the new 009 or they just can't be competitive. They believe a few minor mechanical chages will magically cure all their driving and set-up problems. Practice on the track and knowledge of adapting to race conditions will go worlds further than any kit upgrade ever will. Give Pauly an old FK04 and some NiCads and he'll hand many 008's their asses. Or better yet, give him a Nikko and some alkalines!!!! The results will be the same.

That quote was from Drew Ellis an Xray driver in008 thread. With that said they could be testing some more parts similar to the ones that have recently hit the market. I read somewhere that someone saw an Xray driver, who was testing for the worlds, running an Xray with the motor moved forward. That may be what the orange bulkheads are OR he could have just got them anodized orange. (I've been thinking of making mine black ). Either way I hope these are upgrades to the current car. I'm not opposed to a new car, and I usually buy a new car every year anyway, but it'd be nice if they came out with some more tuning options for the 008.

I find it funny how so many people have a chip on their shoulder about Xray. And how they bring out a new car every year...

Companies are always testing new items, but alot of companies release parts throughout the year, where as Xray, for the most part put the new parts into a fresh kit.

If you don't want to buy a new car then don't. And don't criticise a company for doing so.

And yes it will be a new kit...

I think it's exciting to see new stuff come out. I won't buy it, so I'm not morally offended I guess. If your dead set on staying at the front of TC, it's gonna be expensive, often.

IMO, I would only buy a new car if it had drive train improvements.
