Xray 009 ?? .... New for the Worlds
#16
as a factory driver i have had the pleasure of seeing all kinds of stuff, from all the teams i raced for, that has never made production but actually made cars better. whats awesome about xray is that when they find something better, they actually release it. that and when a new car is released they list every option part that you can expect to see for it over the coming months rather than keep it all a secret or keep people in the dark.

Drew did explicitly say there won't be a new car. But, on Xray's own forums, which are monitored by at least two Xray employees, more than one person has asked if there will be a 009 kit. No Xray employee has answered.
Maybe even Xray isn't sure at this point. I guess that's why they are testing these new bits instead of announcing a release date.

Not speaking for Xray but my OWN opinion is that right now it would be kind of silly to come out with a new car simply because BL/Lipo is taking off in the US big time now but the rest of the world is still running NIMH cells for the most part. It would be wise to wait till EFRA, IFMAR and BRCA decide to go LIPO in all classes and THEN design a car around lipo/bl.
Just my opinion.

A mate of mine tried to order a new 008 kit on Friday, the hobby shop contacted the dsitrbutor and was told no more 008 kits are being shipped...
That suggests that certain parts for the 009 kit may already be signed off R&D wise and are in production? Or Xray don't want to annoy customers by dropping a new kit just after they've bought the old one?
That could just be me trying to do 2+2 and getting 93 though.
At the end of the day, its a Worlds year, and everyone will be bringing something new to the party.

Man, I can't think of what else Xray could do...
with a new TC design given the current Lipo case config. Other than flip the battery and put the electronics closer to the center line, but that would leave an offset chassis. I guess they could put the motor in the center to help with 50/50 front to rear balance. I will be curious to see what they come up. lol

Based on current trend moving toward off-road and sux economy around the world, doing another new car would be very stupid move, on business wise...

Btw about LiPo I have Xray T1Evo2, due to motor, which is centered, I have almost perfect balance with LiPo, so there is already LiPo car made.

008 is about as close as you can get to the "perfect"
TC. What else could they improve on.
