Unfortunately, they also seem to be the most expensive pinions and spurs ever made for touring cars.

The spurs are well worth the money.

You get what you pay for. PRS gears are as perfectly round as perfect can get.

Here are just a few shops that carry PRS Racing Gears:

Precision Racing Systems
Lefthander RC
Windtunnel RC
RC4Less
Stormer Hobbies
Superior Hobbies

...I REALLY Don't like the price - but I can NOT knock the Quality of the PRS Gears...but with the cost savings of running B/L and LIPO, I'm still MONEY ahead.

I've been spoiled over the years having a sponsorship from ROBINSON RACING PRODUCTS back about 15 years ago, then having KIMBROUGH Supply all my SPUR needs for the past 10-12 years...

Now I've been paying 'RETAIL' for the PRS...after NOT having to Buy a gear for more than a dozen years....

That being said, I have no doubt the TOOLING for a Gear Company now can NOT be cheap...and to get the return on the investment...the price IS what it IS.

For the BIG Oval tracks we use the ultra tiny 76 tooth SPUR, and they hold up great to the abuse of our 65+ MPH runs. We also use the Pinions from about 45 - 65 on the various tracks we run. They are incredibly LIGHT and Durable...and they LAST a long time....so it's not just a PURCHASE, it's an investment.

Now we need to up the PINION size to 70, and DROP the SPUR size to 70...cause I want to be able to run a 1:1 (we're at 1.17:1 now)

You get what you pay for.....quality......thanks for the info. But no shop has the higher pinions in stock.

$5-6 bucks for a pinion isn't too much to ask for.

Hey Joe,

This is something that Tony and the Shop at PRS have thought about because of the increasing popularity (Take over thank God!!) of BL racing. If there is a need for it they can produce it without a doubt.

The reason for the backorder log is that they are the only company that makes the pinion's in the range for BL motor in the US. And PRS is not their main product they make. They actually make aviation gears for the real world. They do everything in runs of teeth...meaning 30-40, 40-50, etc. By doing this by time they get one size done they are nearly out of the next size. It keeps cost down by not having TONS of overstocked inventory that never gets sold. Imagine if they had a ton of 20-30 tooth pinions sitting on the shelves right now with BL racing....they would never be able to sell them and the waste would drive the cost up even more.

That being said PRS is listening and will start to increase their BL size run of gears to meet everyone's demand and will look harder into the possibility of making smaller spurs/larger pinion's.

Thanks
EA

Anyone needing some of the BIG PRS Pinions...and you are finding nobody has them in Stock (I just had the problem with the 76t spurs last week)

Give Kenny or Dawn from KC-Racing a call.

I got my spurs from them, and Kenny told me he had BIG PINIONS in Stock.

Tell him/her that Joe Myers from the South-West Tour Series sent you.

http://www.kc-racing.com/

I don't think they have these listed on their WEB SITE - so give them a call, and see which ones they still have in Stock. (We raced on our HUGE Velodrome yesterday...and I don't know what else they may have sold out on..)

you can CALL - 661-588-2757

or email - [email protected]

and that's Kenny or Dawn @ KC-RACING

We can't reach them with the 62-65. I have to set my mesh with the pinion set screw loose...slip it off and tighten the screw and reinstall the pinion. Sometimes this take 4-5 tries to get it "PERFECT"
