Default Battery Voltage (quick question)

Just to check, sorry if this is a stupid question. The voltage on a 7.2V battery can be higher than 7.2 yes? It's reading 8.4 at the moment.

Thanks.

yeah, peak voltage is higher but will drop when power is drawn.

NiMh batteries are rated at 1.2 volts per cell (7.2 for a 6 cell pack)

LIPOs are rated at 3.7 volts per cell (most used in RC are considered 2 cell, so they'd be 7.4)

It's been a while since I did voltage testing on a NiMh type pack, but I just got finished testing some of my lipos.

Peak Charge
8.44v

Voltage as I pulled it off the charger
8.38

Voltage with ESC turned ON (w/o giving any throttle)
8.21

Voltage approx 5 seconds into a run (using a 17.5 Brushless motor)
7.85

Voltage at the end of a 5 minute race
6.96

mAh's used 1850
average amp draw 22 amps

Data was obtained using the EAGLE TREE MicroPower E-Logger system and a CHASSIS Dyno

Things are headed towards a return of the SWT Series, but for
