Integy Team Tools - Ti-Nitride or Spring Steel?
#2
I think they truely are Ti for they are pretty brittle and I broke a few of the 1/16 ones and finally just replaced them with steel ones. I just got the steel Racers Edge bits and stuck in my handles.

Titanium Nitride is a coating commonly used on drill bits and other cutting tools as its hardness extends the life of their wear surfaces. It also improves corrosion resistance. On a tool such as a wrench its purpose would be largely cosmetic and so the marketing guys can exploit the cool-sounding name.

I'm pretty sure the Ti-Nitride tips are hardened steel with a Ti-Ni coating. The spring steel tips are made of medium carbon steel (not as hard) for flex and bending properties with a black coating. This explains why some people have experienced broken tips with the Ti-Ni tools.
