I think the only way rally will take off is if there's actual rc rally racing going on in the U.S. The only thing about rally racing is that you need the right track. You just can't race them on an off road track (you could), but it's just not right with the big jumps and all. And racing them on road would be boring unless you could make part of the track a dirt section. It would be nice to see an actual rally track with various terrain in the U.S.

Very nice, being a big fan of rally myself, I would love to see R/C Rally make a comeback

Anyone got their hands on one of these yet? I want to know what they are like.

I was very disapointed when I missed out on getting my hands on the TL-01RA Subaru WRC. That looked like alot of fun.

Does the body come painted in this kit? I really hope so, because Im not fun of a painter. Hahaha, just wanna thrash the shit out of this car on a gravel road.

I bet it is alot of fun!! Does anyone have any photos?? (apart from the official ones yet)

I hope Tamiya release an XB version, as I real struggle with the painting and stickering.

Are they LED lights at the front of the car? Wow, imagine that, night r/c rallying!!

What we really need are some good scale tracks... people are getting mroe and more into scale crawling. And associated and Traxxas both came out with mreo scale race trucks. We need some good scale tracks for these. There are huge jumps in real really racing. but for these little things it would be like... 4 feet long and only a foot of the ground... With a smooth lander. Multiple terrain changes and things like that. Or make it in the infield of dirt oval tracks. Instead of doign a full oval have cutoffs where you can go race through the middle. That would be sick.

You can pick one of these up from rcmart and I think there are some on ebay still too. I really wantedto get a prerelease one from ebay... I am considering converting my df-03 into the ra just because... I dont use my buggy much... I really think traxxas needs to come out with a 4tec rally... and associated with a tc4ra or tc5ra... plastic chassis and all that stuff again. This would be one of the coolest classes out...

Got mine, it replaced the slash, so has Slash electrics (the chassis I sold as a Brushless ready roller)

Handles well, really do need the buggy inner shell as the chassis seems to be a magnet for debris. Ran the lowest gearing I could (25/79) and a cheapy 15 turn motor which lasted 6 minutes before it came off smoking at 117 degrees CELCIUS . Cooling is an issue!

Comes with a gear cover that "looks" the same as the DF03 but won't fit the 82 or 85t spurs (wider inside lip)

Upgrades I have done are the heatsink bars (little effect), slipper (sounds horrible in reverse!) and ball raced the steering links.

Once you get the gearing right it'll be a fun little thing, but I am starting to think you may not be able to run anything over a silver can without heat problems, especially in a warm climate like Australia!

I sold my HPI Rally RS4 for that exact reason. Even though I was using Brushless, I ran into heating problems. No circulation is bad... although the RS4 didn't let me have a heatsink on it--can the motor fit a heatsink?

So the cover does fit, right? I'd like to pick one up for snow racing...but it may not be worth buying a whole other chassis if heat will be an issue again. Oh, and water doesn't work well with bearing and electronics... blech!

You wont get a heat sink on there, no.

Best to stick to brushed motors on them, when they burn out, chuck n replace, expect a rule of 1 run = 1 motor. Lol (if you drive like me!)

I dont even run a gear cover on my df... You can easily put one from the buggy on there as well to fit the big gears. Your slipper sounds funny in reverse? whats it sound like? And I ran a MM5700 on 3s lipo with no heatsink or ventelation at all and never thermalled. It would be nearly 100 if not over 100 every day in the summer... You can run big motors and everythign fine in these things. And if ventelation is a problem, cut some small holes in the body.,.. And have you ever thought that maybe it was the cheapy 15t motor that made the problem with heat? Cheap motors wont run as cool... I ran a cheap 21t and it over heated... I ran my good 17t speedgems extreme on the same gearing with no heat issues at all....

How did you gear your 5700?

I'd imagine in the RA I'd just go up 1 or 2 pinions to counter the smaller wheels as opposed to the Buggy.

Going to try it tonight with the Monster Stock, see what happens.
