There are probably plenty of reasons for poor attendance but I would guess the fact that it is indoors is low on the list. Above it I would guess:

- Economy
- Decline in on-road
- Far on the east coast rather than a more central location
- Only a couple weeks after the completion of IIC
- Snowbirds, IIC, Indoor Champs and other races becoming more prestigious

I REALLY wish I could go but Im out of the office the week before and Im afraid my employer would frown upon me only working 3 days over a two week period with everything we have going on.

Good luck to everyone attending. Out of curiosity how are the entries looking numbers wise?

Hey guys,
I would love to go to a roar nats asphalt or carpet, however oct. is a busy time for me at work and I cant take the time off. the track is prob about a 3 hr drive away for me. I think this all has to do on the race date. You cant have a rubber tire race in oct, let alone in the northeast. If this race was in june july or aug, I am sure the turnout would be much higher. I don’talways agree but most racers get in carpet mode once September comes around. I for one would like to see roar succeed and have big turnouts at there regional and national level events. Here is an idea for next year. Have all the regionals on the same weekend, like a Super Regionals Weekend for example. 6-5-09 would be Regional Weekend and 7-18-09 would be the weekend of the Nats, give some time for rain date makeups and people to make travel arrangements. To run in the Nats you must qualify by making the A in your region, and you can have some wild cards for people coming out of a tough region and a rule to allow the locals to race in it. Pretty sure there are 12 regions, now you have 120 possible racers for each class??? Right now there is really no reason to run in a ROAR region event, but if you had to qualify for the nats it would mean a little something. Think about it can any of us go out and play in the US Open Tennis event, no you have to qualify by playing other smaller tournaments. Can you go play in the BWM golf championships being held this weekend with Tiger just by paying the entry fee??? Also would have to have super advanced planning like announcing in January the regional tracks and dates and the national track. Hope everything works out for the best for the host track and roar.

The turnout is low for two reasons. Economy and being held in October.

I'd love to come out as well. It's only a 5 hour drive for me to the track. BUT, this is around the time of our MidTerm Exams in College. So obviously... school is more important. Financially I could, if I really really wanted to, afford it since it's only a mornings drive away and I'd have travel buddies to split the cost. I dunno, we'll see as mid terms get closer. I might still make it since they waived off the late fees and I can pay at the track. But there's no way I'd commit without knowing my school test schedule.

The track is nice. Definitely different. Super high traction. If you don't get any track time there, you will be out to lunch come qualifying!

If I did not live 50 minutes away I would not be racing due to school. The same reason as to why I will not run Vegas, its during school.

Hello ROAR Staff, will you be refunding the late fees trough PAY-PAL for entries that where made before the cut off date. or can we apply it to another class when we show up there. Thanks Ron Harrison,

I'm not speaking for Ruben or Dawn but I'm sure they would like you to apply that to a second class. I know I would.

for those who have been charged late fees - please email [email protected] AND [email protected] to apply to a second class or request credit through Pay Pal.

Yes, we would prefer you add to a second or third class as you see this event is low in entries and its the host that will be hurt financially by this more than anybody. We never want to see that.
