Yes, it is lipo ready. What class of TC are your going to be running? Everyone has their favorite motor/esc combo and each motor seems to like different things, i.e temp, gearing, timing. Best to check with the guys at your local track to see what they are running and what seems to work the best.

The Sphere TC does indeed have a LiPo cutoff, but some people say that it's too low, so you better watch out and not rely on the cutoff.

The LRP 10.5 is a good, reliable motor....but I dont believe the TC Spec-10.5 combo is available anymore...

Well, might as well add to the Q's in this thread..

I have the TC Sphere, could I remove the fan and/or heatsink to fit in a 12th scale, and run a 17.5? I figure the TC's a more robust form of the comp/2007, and they don't come with heatsinks, so why not this model?

Thanks for any input!

Touring cars draw very high amps, so that is why the TC spec has a heatsink and fan....for 12th scale spec type motors you can remove the fan...not sure about removing the heatsink because I havent tried it...if the heatsink can be removed, I would say go ahead and try it for this application...

You can remove the fan from the TC Spec but DO NOT attempt to remove the heatsink. It is attached directly to the FETs and you more than likely will damage the unit. The Sphere Comp 07 and TC Spec are the same SC with the exception of the fan and heatsink. The TC Spec is built specifically for high heat applications such as, Mod TC or 4wd Mod. If you don't need the the extra heatsink just get a Sphere Comp 07.

I'll agree that the Lipo cut off is too low, I had my onroader out over the weekend pulled it in when it dropped speed notably, Lipo was sitting on 6 volts, *whew* so no idea when it was going to cut out.

Im running Sphere TC and Comp TC since 1 year with Lipo only lately. No problems, easy programming and very good working. I think its the best choice currently.
