Questions?? 17 vs 24 turn motor???

I am trying to understand the concept behind the number of the turns on the motor.
I have a 17 turn motor, I bought a 24 turn motor for more acceleration.

The way it was explained to me by a friend is that the turn# is how many times the pinion gear will turn in 1 second.
If this is true wouldn't the 24 turn motor be more of a top end motor rather than for acceleration?

It seems like if the motor turns less times in one second it would be more acceleration, Right?

or maby I'm WAY OVER my head.

PLEASE HELP!

OK first off your friend either didnt explain it to you correctly, or you just didnt understand what he meant. the number of turns referrs to the number of times the wire goes around the rotor on an armature (brushed motors). Higher turn motors usually offer more torque and longer run time. The lower turn motors generally offer a higher RPM and can be geared to make up for the loss of torque. So your 24 turn should have less speed on top end than the 17. If they are geared the same the 24 turn should have more accelleration. If you gear down the 17turn with a smaller pinion it will out accellerate and out run the 24 turn. It will also kill the battery faster.

The number of times the pinion gear will turn in one second is dependent on too many variables to be used as a rating for a motor. So thats not it.

A 27turn brushed or 17.5 turn brushless motor is usually stock class.
their performance is about the same.
