Default question for Dale Epp / Protoform

Vintage Trans Am classes are gaining ground all over the country. It seems like clubs everywhere are adopting a VTA themed class even if they dont completely follow the Official USVTA rules.

With that in mind I was wondering what your thoughts are on the Vintage class and if you were considering making a Vintage Style Body.

That would be great, but I wouldn't hold my breath...

I think the reason you are seeing mostly fictional car bodies coming from Protoform and the like has something to do with licensing costs. I believe it was Andy from HPI that said something along the lines of "If you make something that even resembles a real car, that company will come after you for royalty's" or something to that degree.. But yeah, I think Protoform and Proline have found their place in the hobby and are sticking to it. I would expect to see more World GT bodies from Protoform before too long. Its a growing class and they have Dale to thank for that.

No doubt his stuff is great. Thats why I wanted to ask about the VTA.

Some car companies will gladly grant you a license. A shell of their car is like free advertising. It just depends on the attitude of the license holder. You just have to ask.

I dont mean to pull attention away from the great World GT shells that have been coming from Protoform either. I imagine making a VTA car would seem like making a brick compared to the aerodynamic shells he has been producing.
