I used to charge AAs in a 4 cell holder like comes with an rtr to hold the rx batts. I just tell the charger 4 cells, 0.5amps and it does the rest. With the Powerex AA charger, it charges AAs individually and I tell it charge rate and discharge rate (if discharging) and AA capacity. It does the rest.

Sorry if I didn't understand your ques.

For my AA batteries I use the Energizer microporcessor controlled fast charger available at Walmart for about $29.00. Charges 4 AA batteries at a time in about 15 minutes and it works GREAT! I have two of them (for one complete trans pack) and they come with a 110 adapter and a 12 volt plug. I won't use amything else.
