TB02's battery bar cannot be replaced by the EvoIII's CF strap.
The posts on the tub chassis is further apart than on EvoIII.

Default Legal Parts

Ok so who wants to tackle this one. Do you think the new suspension conversion kit will be TB02 legal?

As some may have thought, I have a huge problem with this. Those A-Arms (much like the TA-04SS arms) are not designed for the Evo 3/TB Evo. But unlike previous kits because you can shim the arms fore or aft to set wheelbase now, any freaking arm is legal because of the lame arguement of "Well they fit". I am sure that I could make a set of TA-03 arms fit in those suspension mounts, but I doubt I would be allowed to run them (not that I want to) because they weren't DESIGNED to be used on any other chassis than the TA-03. I'm sorry but I think we're losing sight of what the TCS series was the longer it runs. What's next, allowing Sorex tires? Why not, the Surikarn includes them so why not. The TCS is not only supposed to be a level playing field for the "Average Non-Factory Drivers", but it's also supposed to be a showcase of Tamiya's prodcuts. What off the shelf Evo 3/TA-04/TB-02 will have SS or Evo A-Arms? NONE. Sometimes you need to make the right choice, even if it is an unpopular choice and disallowing parts that aren't designed for a specific chassis is the Right Choice as the rules are written and in the spirit of the series...

God I miss my F103....

No Offence to Izzy or anyone else in this, but I don't want his reply, I want to hear the justification from the man who makes the rules. Any other reply is just conjecture and theory. I want to know WHY such things are being allowed as of late? If you can't tell, this kind of stuff is really pissing me off as I think it HURTS and not helps the series as a whole.

Gary,

I could not agree with you more. The way everyone keeps trying to modify their car you would think they are going for the World Championship. If they want to try and run those non legal setups then race at other races, but when it comes to a TCS race then follow the rules and put the car back in the configuration that is in the spirit of the rules and the event. The TCS race is suppose to be fun as well as competitive.

As for the F103 I second that. that was a fun car to drive.

Default legality

I would like to hear the ruling before I lay down the cash for any parts. I am starting from scratch so I would rather just buy the evo upgrade kit from the start. If its not allowed then I have no problem with it. Everyone will be on the same page and have a level playing field. I am all for having a very strict hopup list for each car. Then no one can question legality. This list could be updated as needed. Maybe we should all just race Tl-01's with NO hopups

All parts that are intended for the EVO III may be used for the TB-02 as option hop ops with the exception of the upper and lower carbon plate decks and the aluminum EVO III motor mount.

49346 TRF415 LIGHT WEIGHT REVERSIBLE SUSPENSION SET
(TB EVO 4 SUSPENSION KIT FOR TRF415 & TB EVO 3) 12000YEN 30TH

Lets get someone to lay down the law before this gets out of hand.

I have the setup for my TB-02 to make it like the 04SS. I have not put it on yet. I have the body and the arms. I think the only benefit it will give me for my 02 is more rear bite. If I can't run them it is not really a big deal because my car is totattly dialed at our track and really won't make any differance as the result is going to be the same for those who run against my TB-02 at our TCS race.........They will loose.

In all serious though it should give me more rear bite which I don't really need. For me I like that short body as I think it just looks cool and is really the only reason for me wanting to run the 04SS arms.

If I go to the TCS race and it is not legal I will just remove them. If I can run them I will do so. Last I talked with Gary at Tamiya was as our TCS race in March and it would have been legal for me to run that short setup but I only had my 02 for a week so no time to get it ready. I did run it stock and TQ'ed and won, plus my time was almost 6 seconds faster than the GT1 class so it didn't and don't really matter to me.

One more vote against these outlaw modifications !!! TCS has a lengthy set of rules for a reason. I honestly believe finding loopholes should NOT be encouraged. That level of competition should be left to other programs. Keep TCS what it is and should be.....a competition that showcases Tamiya cars and emphasizes driver ability. It will continue to appeal to a broad spectrum of people only if we race the products WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE CARS DESIGN or EQUIPPED WITH APPROVED HOP UPS !!!!!!!!! Don't let this one die Gary. And if anyone from Tamiya is listening......If you want to see a decline in popularity and sales, feel free to ignore this issue !!! As a huge supporter of Tamiya products and the president of a club that bases it's racing program on Tamiya products and TCS style rules, I'll be glad to tell you that I won't feel such allegiance if TCS is allowed to become more "main stream". This issue may seem small to some...but the long term implications are much bigger! Put a stop to this NOW !!!
