Rod, my SS has more rear grip then my 04R does. I think the short wheelbase, at least with my setup on it, has more rear grip and is more stable then the longer car. I was fighting the rear end all week last year with the standard car, but kept looking for more steering with the SS this year. Plus, I think it's an awesome configuration for carpet too.

As far as who has the better arguement, I think in the long run there needs to be an addendum to the rules to directly reflect this. I'll admit if I saw someone at a TCS event with the SS arms on a chassis other then an 04 the way the rules are written now, I would have to protest it.
Gary,

I wanted to use that body as well, but it will only fit the TA03S. It will not work on the 04SS.

I agree it is great body. My twp collectors peices are the 1/12 scale 959 and the 1/24th Tamtech Porsche 962. I finally restored the 959 except for the body. I can't aford what people are getting for them.

Ummm, I'm sure it's nothing you don't know already or even can do better.
Honestly, I think I have a good start-up but it still needs more improvement. Again, like Rod said...it does not mean it is an advantage.
Share set-ups? I don't really have one.
Have fun at Tamiya! I'm taking a Holiday break.

actually i dont think even shimming the std. arms forward all the way equals the ss arms. as a VW enthusiast, i have 3 of the Golf III bodies, designed for the FF01 Short chassis, and the only way they match on my 414s/evos is to use the ss arms. you can sure get a crazy short wheelbase with ss arms, and shimming all the way....! btw, i think it almost equals the TA03R-S, since thats what i display those Golf bodies on...

I think you would have to shim the front back and the back forward. Anyone talk to FMW about this? Tell him to make an appearance to put this thing to rest. If he doesn't pop on here before Wed, I'll talk to him about it at the Novak Race. Hmmm, me with Fred...Izzy, I hope you still have your kit arms nearby, when I get done with him (punching palm of other hand), he'll be begging to make those arms illegal

I got all the parts you can summon, don't worry about it. If you have so much powers to convince Fred to make it so. I don't have a problem with that. What I have a problem is ..... ah sh** your not worth my time.

Izzy, Gary may not be worth your time, But I'm sure he is worth someone's time. Some of us just can't figure out who's time he worth.

Thanks Tamiyaracer...Who are you again?

Izzy, if you couldn't tell, my tongue was placed firmly in my cheek on that post, but I do admit I want to talk to him about it. I really just want a clear cut ruling on this instead of the unknown we have now. If he is going to make them legal though he needs to post it in the rules so everyone knows and there is no question.

I FINALLY have the definitive argument against allowing the SS arms on the Evo/TB-02:
The arguement has been that since the cars use the same arms as the 04, they should be allowed, right? Well....

The M03 mini accepts the TA02/03drivetrain upgrades, right? So racers have used 02 and 03 diffs for years. This year at nats someone had the bright idea to use a one-way instead of a ball or gear diff. Fred quickly said this was illegal.

How are these not similar situations? The 02/03 driveline parts fit and are designed to fit the M03 just as the ss arms are supposed to be designed for the Evo/TB-02. If you dis-allow one, you should dis-allow both. Or allow both.....
