Just wanted to let everyone know that tamiyausa relisted another unbeatable TB-02 clearance deal on their eBay store(ID = tamiyadeals). They have 10 more Carrera GT kits at $90 shipped each, with paypal required. I would post a link, but the deal is honestly good enough to warrant a search for it

Grab yourself a parts car now before they're all gone....

I found it...great deal for sure. I got my TB-02 for $125 on tamiyausa.com two seasons ago.

The Final drive ratio(FDR) on the TB-02 is lower...which equals faster for the right motor. The TB-02 is also much faster and handles way better than the tt-01. Even if the two cars had the same FDR...the TB-02 would be faster because it is lighter and more efficient.

Questions?? Can the TB-02 Rally?

I am looking at picking up the TB-02 to rally along with my boys, who are currently rallying with a couple of modified TT-01s.

It would be the Tamiya Subaru Impreza WRC 2003 TB-02 Kit, throw in a waterproof ESC and then seal the radio. Add a set of the Tamiya Rally blocks (with foam inserts), adjust the suspension for additional travel and viola 'Rally' car .

Would I need to seal anything else?

Thanks in advance for your help.

WHAT GEAR SETTING WOULD YOU CHOOSE HAVING THE CHART BELOW?

CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG THE LOWER THE F.D.R. IS, THE FASTER THE CAR WILL GO?

IM GONNA USE THIS FOR A MABUCHI SILVER CAN.

Yes, the lower number like 5.42 will give you more top speed, but will also give you less acceleration and work the motor harder. I always explain it like pedaling your bike from a dead stop in 10th gear compared to 1st gear. 10th gear will get you to a higher speed, but it's a lot harder on the motor (legs).

So, it all depends on if you are racing or just bashing, if it's a tight track, or wide open. If it's wide open, you can lean more towards "10th gear", if it's real tight so you'll need to slow down and accelerate more, go more towards "1st gear".

Hope that all makes sense.

For racing 5.42 will generally work the motor hard = very hot motor after 5 minutes. For just driving around, I'd guess something around 7 is OK.

I just painted up a couple new bodies for my and my son's TB02s and realized I need some full length rear body posts. All the rear posts I have are cut down to size for lower bodies. I have one (not sure how I ended up with just one). So I would like 3 more full length rear body posts, but don't want to spend $25 buying two complete sets of F parts I think they are (part #50909).

So, if anyone has any full length rear body posts for the TB-02 you'd care to sell for a reasonable price, please pm me. I need them by Feb 8 for the Trackside TCS race. Or if you want to trade for some Tamiya parts you need, maybe we can work out a deal.

Thanks.

Correct, if the FDR is lower...your car will be faster on the top end. For silver can classes...people tend to gear very low because the silver can has so much torque.

FYI,

Tamiyausa has the TB-02 Carrera GT kits for $49 US. And the EVO IV kits for $250 US.
