Well im running Tamiya universal allround with tamiya blue sealed bearings,
Alumn motor mount, alumn steering set , front blue n red rear stabilizer bars , SSg stifner plate and TRF dampers.
I just ordered the Tb evo III Lightweight prop. shaft.

The only problem is my drive train (stripping Bevel gears) and i burn 3X 23 turn stock motors with this kitt.

Any suggestions?

My TB-02 pic.
The TB-01 Cup joints are still on the market, Tamiyausa.com has them out of stock right now, but they are most likely on order. I picked up my cup joints from Trackside, with the rest of the stuff from local tamiya guy Marty(414mph) and Towerhobbies. After reading your hop-ups on your TB-02(which looks nice), I forgot about my front stabilizer and my White and Blue springs.

As far as the stripping, I'm going to see f1larry on Jan. 1st about the front bevel gears.

What's your gearing with those motors?

Waltrip,

do you have the blue driveshaft that is tapered? You need to make sure that you have that one as it is 2mm longer than the stock shaft. Thats the first thing you need to be able to avoid striping the bevels.

I don't...and my buddy has the blue one and I noticed they are different. Will the blue lightened evo III shaft fix my problem...or do I need another one? Thanks for the help.

Even after getting that shaft you will have to shim inside the gearbox, Thats the part I will show you how to do on New Years day.

Sounds good...I will stop by your pit then. Is the lightened blue evo III shaft the one I'm looking for? Part # 49369

Mom and Dad said my brother and I can get our brushless systems early so we can practice on the 23rd. This will get us ready for our first race with brushless on Jan. 1st

my ratio is 6.85 (58T spur + 22T pinion) with yokomo LR 23 stock motor.
It gets really hot after few minutes.

What motor and ratio are you running?

I'm running a Trinity CO27 motor with 58T and 19T. Trackside is a pretty tight course, but my motor and esc are never really that hot.

Try gearing down. I tried running a 20T pinion gear...and everything was hotter because I really didn't have as much torque and my speed down the straight wasn't as fast because I didn't get off the corner as fast going into the straight. With these metric 48 pitch gears, one tooth makes a huge difference.

Since I did a double post by accident, I might as well tell you that Robinson Racing pinion gears are a must. Much smoother and last waaay longer than the stock tamiya pinion gears.

That's a lot of motor...I would put it in your new TA-05. Belt drive is much more forgiving, and the general rule of thumb is that shaft drive is for stock/19T racing and belt for modified(but everyone runs belt now). Your TB-02 will be able to handle it ONLY if it has the evo III outdrives, but the TA-05 stock diffs are good out of the box.

Ran my car with my new 13.5 on Sunday...what a blast! I just had to dial drag brake to my liking, and my car was really hooked up. At trackside, they are all getting their gear ratios around 5.0 or so...and my car was at 5.7(thats the lowest!...for now). I ran a best lap time of 11.3....while all those pro guys are running 10.5s. The difference is that I am more consistant...many 11.4s and 11.5s in a row. I do have a trick up my sleeve though, the F201 52T spur gear will fit the TB-02, so that will make my final ratio around 5.4. Should be able to hit 11 flat or less for sure! Remember I am one of the few with a shaft drive tub chassis...and I those guys are running top of the line stuff. I'll give you an update after the new years day race.

Merry Christmas by the way!
