That is correct. The setscrew actually bottoms out in the threads. The steel threads will last longer than the aluminum so the locknuts will stay on better. A little loctite may be needed but I think just tightning the setscrew at the bottom of the thread is sufficient.

For your sake I think I saw someone advise elsewhere going with an open class in teh interim and then as people come out and more people get 200 (or 235mm) cars then you can think about separating them. I know that back home a WGT class is starting to get going and I need to build some packs and wire everything up and run with them there.

Ok folks it's that time of the month to meet up at Crystal Park Raceway. If you have debating if you should go and take your pan car out of the closet, well make it this weekend. Bring what you have, lets just have fun. If not enough pan car guys show, will be put in with a touring class so don't worry about not being able to participate. If your driving skills are not up to par, well mines are not up to par either just having fun. Remember unfortunately next month we will not have a meeting at Crystal Park as nitro racing is going on and took our spot. If you still cannot make this weekends race hit me up if you can make it any other weekend for some bashing/practice time and will meet up.

Here is the flyer for this Saturday's race so bring your pan car, touring, nitro.

One of the nitro guys I see at the track running an electric touring car

I had been doing some thinking (as I look at my CRC Pantoura here in my dorm room) after all this debate about 4C vs LiPo and what to do about World GT and I had been looking at some FIA GT video (and SPEED World Challenge GT video) and I wonder what if somebody came up with something like that. If it was FIA GT you could do a GT1 class for 17.5/2S LiPo (and your "doorstop" bodies that have been discussed in the Body Debate thread) and a GT2 class for 4C 13.5 for your bodies like the HPI Lotus and the Dodge Viper and Nissan 350Z and Corvette C6R. the GT2 class would be for folks getting into WGT and they can run with other 4C cars and as they get good (in a few months or a year or so) they can step up to the GT1 class.

I think you have a very good set up. I would just add Pro10 class for the 235 cars with GTP bodies 2cell lipo and 10.5 or 6 cell and 19 turn for use on larger outside paved tracks. Then all the other classes would be 200mm as you laid them out.

My 2 cents

That'd make sense to me too. I really dont think that 200mm and 235mm drivers should necessarily work against each other (Or exclude one class or the other from the track) so a 19T/6C or 2S/10.5 might work

If there is the kind of turnout that would allow for 235mm and 200mm to be scored separately then I say go for it. I dont know of a lot of areas that have a large enough regular contingent of 10th pan racers (except for Grenade10 and hsi boys out in CO) that would be able to do that though

Heck I would pay good money just to get three more guys out to the track to make a pan class. At the moment only two of us have shown up and have been put into mod touring as we are runnign 235mm with 3.5 and 8.5 motors.

Our first race weekend, turned into a practice day which was good, as I had not run my 235 car since our two day race last year. We had 4 235mm cars and 3 200mm put in some laps. We had voted to run 13.5's in the 235 cars, but after the first run, I was able to convince everyone to go back to 10.5's and let the 200mm cars run the 13.5. Kinda like GT2 with LMP2 We don't race this weekend but will on the 17th. So I'll try and get som pictures up.

For the LMP1 class, I've got a second darkside car that I'm going to put a 6.5 in and really go play. With a 13.5, Tekin RS and timing to the MOON, I was able to run at almost a 20 sec flat time. 1/8 scale nitro by National Podium racer was 19.2-4 and another racer with a 1/10 touring with a 2.5 was 19.5-19.6, so with the 10.5 I should be there and who knows with the 6.5

Well I think its pretty safe to say that we have come to a consensus about what to do:

LMP1: 235mm, 2S LiPo/10.5 or 6C/19T
GT1: 200mm 2S LiPo/17.5
GT2: 200mm 4C/13.5

Me personally Im in the GT2 camp and hopefully can run my Pantoura back home with the growing WGT class now that Im all graduated from college and what not.
