Nicely done! Which kit did your F102 originally start as? I had a Footwork FA13 Mugen Honda back in the day. Working on a body set now, using a Type-C body with the Footwork decals.

Thanks, although I must confess I only did the wings!

In answer to your question, it was a 1992 Williams FW14. It still is a complete F102 with the exception being the front tyres (F104), and also the rears (Tyrell P34). The bodyshell is the F104 MK I shell, fitted to 3Racing 2009+ style front and rear wings (however I've since replaced the front wing with a Tamiaya Ferrari F60 one as it is too brittle).

The car itself has the following hop-ups, not all of which are currently applied:

Carbon fibre chassis
Carbon fibre T-bar
Metal motor mount
Official Tamiya LED kit
Titanium turnbuckles
Official Tamiya alloy shock
Square front hubs (adjustable camber upto 3 deg)
One piece thrust-assembly
Sport tuned gear set
Sport front spring set

Would love to see your Footwork, always liked that Tamiya model. I race against a bunch of F104's, so it looks more like a mini Grands-Prix with them all of the same period.

hi guys.

sorry to bump an old thread, but after much searching, i finally
found the F1 i have been looking for for years.

i have just bought a pre owned F102 FW14B on ebay.
got it for a great price too.

the car has a few minor issues (ill quickly fix).
can someone please tell me what part number the drivers helmet is
for the FW14B F102 kit ?

the reason i ask, is that the drivers helmet is currently painted in
Damon Hill's colours, and i want to make one that matches Nigel
Mansell's.

also, ill need to source a set of decals, as not all of them are on the car
at the moment. the body looks to be in great shape. the chassis is quite scratched underneath,
so ill probably get the Tamiya carbon F102 chassis upgrade for it.

this car will probably be a shelf queen for me.

ill post some pics once i get the car.

Jason.

The helmet is a standard F1 part, its part number is 0225055.

For the stickers, the part number is 9495138 if you can find a sticker sheet, the best source is to see if they come up on ebay. Alternatively D-Drive has a generic 90s F1 sticker sheet that includes most of the sponsors logos.

hello again.

i have been looking at the various upgrade options for the old F102 chassis,
and i have a question about the front arms.

can anyone please tell me if the carbon reinforced front arms (part # 54153)
will fit the F102 chassis also ?

the car is ultimately likely to be a shelf queen, but i still want to drive it a few times.

also, where might i best look for rubber tyres that will suit the f102 chassis ?
do they even exist ?

thanks in advance.

The F103 front arms won't fit the F102, unless you modify or replace the chassis. It's not difficult to find the original F102 parts as the same front and rear ends are used in the Group C chassis that Tamiya recently rereleased. Search ebay for 0005370 or buy it through TamiyaUSA http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...uct-id=0005370

For rubber tyres and wheels, any that are made for the F103 will fit straight on.

Good place to get F103 tires that are same size as used on the F102's is TQ RC Racing. They stock both Ride and Pit Shimizu rubber tires and rims for the F103's. I am using these tires on my F103 now as a LeMans class car with the Tamiya Toyota TS-020 bodyshell. We are running the Ultimate F1 Winter series at TQ's carpet track right now.

If you are still looking for the Tamiya F102 Carbon chassis, I have a new still sealed on the blister card P/N 53105. This is carbon lower chassis and the FRP T-bar set. PM me if interested.

I am thinning out the herd and selling some of my RC collection off that dates back to early '90's TA01's. This includes a NIB Tamiya F102 Lotus 102B kit, Jaguar XJ12 Group C car (re-release with pre-painted body) a built kit stock Castrol Lotus 107 and a couple of F201's with custom painted bodies ( a Senna Lotus 99T and a Tyrrell Yamaha 023 paint scheme) and 2 Tyrrell P34 six-wheelers (the regular F103 and the Japan GP kit). When the Winter series ends in February, the F103 LeMans car is going up for sale too. Just too many toys...

got the F102 FW14B today.

as you can see, the body and wheels are in good condition as is the rear wing. the same can't be said of the chassis.

thanks to Kevin CBR i have a nice new carbon chassis on the way to remedy that. i have a new front wing on order also.

that just leaves the drivers helmet to rectify.

anyone want a Damon Hill helmet ?
