...so there's douchebag answer #2. Thanks. I never said I wanted to start another class or that I don't want to work on anything. Excuuuuuuuuuuse me for posing a hypothetical question about something I was curious about as someone somewhat new to R/C racing. Hopefully someday R/C Jesus will appear to me and bestow upon me ultimate insight and knowledge as he apparently has to you. Then I, too, can stop asking questions and just appear from the swirling mist to drop pearls of wisdom upon the slobbering masses and boast of how easily I won the Grand Championship of the Universe. Maybe then I'll understand "phyics and psi" as well!

no need to bring the hate. Both of you! It's just the dynamic of power/weight that precludes a 1/12 scale to run well on rubber tires. Trust me, I ran a 1/12 on cap tires on a big oval and it wasn't fun!

I didn't bring it. I just gave it back to its rightful owner.

okay, maybe not bring it, just present your point a 'lil better and not jump out and bite anyone that has another point of view. Albeit a rather closed-minded view. Progress never came from stagnation, no offence tou you Nash, but exploring options is what made this hobby and always will.

D'OH!

Pete, now I want to see if I can buy some caps to try out, especially as some are saying BL won't work in a pan car at Cam. Its all in the setup, and it really might be possible with todays rubber to get the necessary traction.

Yeah -- I'm gonna get Dennis to machine me up some adapters so I can run 2 touring car tires per side on the back like a dually! Then I'm going to have a chassis plate laser cut from a nice sheet of 4130 steel -- it'll have just the right amount of flex and will bring the weight up nicely while lowering the cg. Then I'm going to show up with my steel lipo brushless 6 rubber tire pan car and whup some a$$!

Hahaha, a dually TC. Now THAT IS RIDICULOUS!

Just grab yourself a 12th pan car and get out there with Karl and me.

12th scale road course cars would be horrible on rubber tires...

It's only a matter of time I'm sure. Maybe as soon as I join you and Karl in Expert TC I'll reward myself with a pan car.

Oh great another sandbagger in the sportsman class just playing with ya. By the time you get back tho I'm for sure gonna give you a run for your money. With the new electronics and my setup on this losi getting better every week I think I'm gonna be able to put down some pretty fast laps. Starting to get consistant finally, was checking out my laps from summa slamm and only had a few that were off pace.

It's possible that rubber tires could work with pan cars...however I don't think it is with today's rubber tires. Today's rubber tires and pretty much any rubber tire made to date is to hard to get enough grip for the cars to handle well. Tamiya had a cap rubber material many years back that we would glue over a foam tire that was much softer and worked quite well on the F103s on surfaces where foams had problems. Unfortunately the tires were a pain to make and looked horrid. Pro-line tried a similar idea for F1 with a molded cap that could be glued on to the foam. It looked considerably better then the Tamiya cap but didn't work for squat.

My 1/24 pan car worked well on rubber tires. No insert, just low-profile grippy rubber on a wheel. Competition Mini-z tires I think.
